The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
aess ion in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to jr

The minutes of the regular.meeting of April Zrd, the

Apr A3 9th held for the purpose of canvassing the election returns
were read and approved.
A communication from the Fire Departme t was read in
which they reported the resigna.tion.of R, E. Staplieton, John: ;
Quit oe and H.-E. Sehrappe from the Fire Department and reeom-
mended for appo i.ntmen.t C. A. Dun.ean, John Tubman and Vernon
Woodward, Thereupon, the Mayor appointed them as members of
the FireDepartment, . It was moved by Hartley and seconded by
Weber that,,-the appointments be approved. The motion earried,
The Mayor reported. that Mr. Brohaugh had requested.
a $3,0.00 a month raise in salary and referred. the matter to the
Water Conn ttee for report later*
The City Engineer' was instructed to make some dins-
position of the stock pound

This being the time set to receive bids on. Street equip-
ment,., the Clerk was instructed to open and read, all bids, which

It was moved by Vordshl and seconded by Graves that the Council
into executive session and Ball .the representative of eaeh firm
bidding to; explain. the merits of his machinery, The motion carried,.
Thereupon; ! the MsByoT requested all visitors present to retire t&Lthe
outer room to await their turn of appearing, before the Coune it,
After. each representative had been given opportunity to speak, it
e was move& by Gum and seconded by Perry that the bide be referred
to the Street and Alley Comm ittee for their recommendation. The
motion aarrisd. It was moved by Vordah and seconded by Hartley
that the Finance Committee join in the deliberations with the
Street and Alley Committee. The motion carries, The Committee
reported back and asked for further time in which to make its
report. The time was granted and it was moved by Vordahl and
seconded by Perry that we do now adjourn until 7; b0 P. M. `-k trday
April 219 1928, The-motion carded.
