Council of Laurel laurel, Montanat November S. 19290 The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall ate. was called _ to order by Mayor James Ku.eera at 8:00 ell elack P. M. November 5 19290 upon roll call,. the following aldermen answered present; Perm Chemb a rlin Graves Br ohaugh , Barney Vordahl { The minutes of October lst, 15th and 22nd were :read and ap;proved The. report of the Gity Treasurer was presented' and ? read. It was moved by Graves and seconded by Vordahl that the xi d ti e rt b e ?.. on c r e mo e approved, Th repo The report of the Water Commissioner for August was presented and read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Chamber lip that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Police Judge was presented and r ead, ? It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Barney that the report be approved. The motion carried. The City Treasurer appeared before the Council with a 1 letter from the Midland: National Bank in which they offered to give actual securities rather than a, trust receipt. After some discussion, it was moved by Graves and seconded by Vordahl that the trust receipt be requested. The motion earried. The bills for the month of October were referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation the Committee reported back recommending the payment 'of the following bills: i City Water Dept, 37.57 Herbert Bailer 35.00 r Henry Kaiser 105.62 J. Williams (- for65.00, Henry Kaiser for X42.50, H. F. Herbert for 02,50 Herbert Baile for $3.40, City Water Department for $40.76, R. J. ? G 1 oy 51, Geo. A. Williams for 25,00, Yellowstone Garage for $56, i I for $9.50, J. H. Crutcher for $6.75 and Carrie E. Erb for $7050 be paid -out of the Operating Fund. The motion earrie4:. The resignation of, R. J, Williams as Police judge was presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded; by Barney that the resignation. be accepted. Thereupon, the Mayor stated that nominations for a new Police Judge would be in order. Perry nominated R. Fritz. It was moved by Perry. and seconded by Barney that nominations be closed and that R. Fritz be unanimously elected to the office of Police Fudge to fill the unexpired term of R. J. Williams, resigned, The motion carried. L After some discussion of a, desk for the Treasurex's office, it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Perry that the desk selected by the City Treasurer .bey purchased. The motion carried. A communication from the. American Legion Post No. 123 of laurel inr which they offered a hundred dollars for the City Council's disposal was read. It was,moved by Vordahl and seconded by Barney that the Oity Clerk be instructed to acknowledge receipt of letter and inform them that chairs would` be purchased.' with their donation. The motion carried. i ..._., The City Clerk demonstrated a Ditto machine before the Council, After some discussion, it was moved by Graves and see- 1 ond6d by Vordahl that the CtV._purehase the machine.
