The City Council of the City of Laurel met in rea lar
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was "called
to order by Mayor James Kucera at 8:00 o" clock P, Y1, Tuesday
September 3, 1929,
Upon roll call, the following aldermen .answered

The minutes of ? dgast 20th mere read and approved.
The report of the City Treasurer was presented and
read. It was moved -by Graves, and seconded by Perry that the
report be approved, The motion carried.
The report of the Police Judge was presented and
read. It was moved by Vord.ahl and seconded by Perry that the
report be approved. The motion carried. !
The report of the Chief of Police was presented and ?I
read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Hartley that
the report be approved. The motion carried,
The report of 1h.e Water Commissioner was presented and
read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Graves that the
report be approved. The motion carried.,
after some discussion, it was moved by Chamberlin and
seconded by Hartley that 31'10.00 be added to itir. Baileys s 'salary,
of f6ct ive august lst and ; 15.00 to that of Joe Nicholas . ETA
motion carried.

The licenses were discussed and referred to the City
Treasurer and City Attorney. j
The bills for the month of August were referred to the
Finance Committee and after due deliberation the Committee reported
back recommending the payment of the following bills:

It was moved by Perry and seconded by Chamberlin that the bill a£
City Water Dept, for 07,26, 11ontana Po?Rer• Goo for $44.79, Billings
.Gas Co, fox ,25 Laurel Outllok for $9,35, Herbert Bailey for
X12,00, H. E. Herbert for ..02.50 and Herbert Bailey for $26.20 be {
paid out of the Operating Y.nd.. The motion carried.

ORDINATTCE NO. 296.

Ordinance No « 296, being an ordinance closing the East
and. West alley in Block 20 of the Nutting Subdivision, was pre'
seated and read. After dome discussion, it was referred to. the
Street and Alley Committee and after due deliberation, the com-
mittee reported back recommending its immediate passage. It was
moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that the report of the
committee be adopted and that the unanimous consent and vote of
the Council be had to place Ordinance No 296 upon its immediate J
passage. Upon roll call., all Aldermen present voted aye. It was jl
moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that said Ordinance rTo.
296 be passed and adopted.. Upon roll call, l Aldermen present
voted aye and said ordinance was declared passed and adopted.
A letter from the County Commissioners was presented and _
read.in which they requested the City Council to appz&ise lots,
Thereupon the City Engineer and City attorney were appointed to
serve with the ?Mayor as a committee to place valuations on the
lots or property referred to.
Rids were received for the painting of t he Fluter Tank,
A bid from i?y Rogers or painting the outside and inside of the
tank for ;x;185.00 was presented and one from Ed Hearn -in Which he
offered to paint the bowl two coats and the rest one coat for
0125.00 and to paint the inside and clean the bowl for 25.00.
After some discussion, it was moved by Perry and seconded-by
Hartley that. the Mayor and City Clerk be authori2ed to enter into
contract with , Y. Hearn for painting the tank' as above mentioned
for $150.00.. The motion carried.,
It was moved by Vord.ahl and seconded by Chamberlin that
we do now adjourn, The motion carried.
