The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City -Hall and was called to order by President of the Council C. E. Perry at 8:00 o'clock P. MI. August 20, 1929. Upon roll call., the following Aldermen answered present; Chamb e rlin Graven Brohaugh Hartle y V or dahl she minutes of august 6th were read. and approved. (r. Vord.ahl, chairman of the Street and Alley Committee, reported recommending tYat Mr. Perry be permitted to more the storm sewer inlet at the east end of.the` pavement approximately forty feet north. 1t_-,was moved by Graves and seconded by Hartley that his report be accepted and permit granted to Mr. Perry. The motion carried. The Mayor appeared at this time and Mr. Perry relinquished. the chair to him,- It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Vordahl that tba Fire and Police Committee attempt to find new quarters for the fire truck, providing a cancellation of the contract could be obtained. The motion carried. A petition from Charles E. Perry to have the east and west alley through Block 20; Putting Subdivision, closed was presented and read„ It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that proper ordinances be drawn and notices published for the b-losing of said alley. The motion carried, A letter from the 1ii_dland Implement Company was presented and read in regard to payments for culverts for 5192.18 purchased this year. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that a, warrant, be drawn in their favor for half the bill and to .-form ? them that the other half would be drawn January is t in ac'co r.dance ?j with the Couneills ,understar_ding at the time of purchase.- The motion carried. II After some discussion of painting the water tank, it was moved by Hartley and seconded by Brohaugh that the matter be re- ferred to the Water Committee.
