Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

august 61 1929,
The City Council of the City of laurel met in regular
session in the Council Ohambex in the City Mall and was called
to order by Mayor James Kucera at 8;00 O'clock P. M. Tuesday
August 6, 1929,
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present;
ferry
Graves
Bayne y
Bxohaugh
Hartley
V or Bahl
The report of the Police Judge was presented and read.
It was moved by Graves and seconded by Perry that the report be
approved. The motion carried.
The report of the City Treasurer was presented and read.
It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Barney that the report be
approved. The motion carried.
The report of the Chief of Police was presented and read.
It-was moved by Derry and seconded by Graves that the report of the
Ohief. of _'Police be approved. The motion carried.
T:he bills for the month of July were xeferxed to the
Finance Committee and after due deliberation the Committee reported
back recommending the payment of the following bills;

It was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley that the report of
the committee be accepted and that vuarxants be issued in the manner
recommended by the committee. The motion carried.
It was moved by Perry -and seconded by Hartley that the bill of
Billings Gas Co. fox X1,25, John E. Lawson for, x;25.00, Montana
Power Co. for : 9.74, Fxed Reil for 43.50, laurel Outlook for $16.75,

Orville Jones for $7,50, Marshall Wells Go- for 'p12.25, Mildred.
Erb for 460100, S. E. Anderson lvlotor Co,, for $29*40, Hexkert
Bailey for $16.20 and Herbert Bailey for $3,50 be paid out of the
Operating Fund,. The motion carried.
b1r_ Ira Rodgers appeared with a petition and complaint
in regard to-boys riding on the sidewalk and running over and
knocking down smaller children. After some discussion, it was
moved by Vordahl and seconded' by Hartley that the Chief of Police
publish notice in the Laurel Outlook calling attention to the
provisions, of the ordinance, The motion carried.
A•request from G. E. Perry to have storm sewer inlet
mo-?7ed at 'the lower end of the pavement was presented and read.
After some discussion, it was referred to the Street and Alley
Committee.
A request from C. E. Perry to have the East and west
alley through, Block 20, Nutting Subdivision, closedawas presented
and read,, It gas moved by Barney and seconded by Hartley that
steps betaken to close the alley, _ The motion carried.
A communication from the Fire Department reporting the
resignation of C. E. Hiner, Frank Quilco.nd H. V. Zivecap and
the recommendations to fill the vacancies R.-L. Huston, H.. B,
Packard and.. A. J. Scholz was read„ _ It was moved by Hartley and
seconded by Barney that the resignations be accepted. The emotion
carried.' Thereupon, the Mayor appointed R. L. Huston, _R* Bo
Packard and A J. Scholz as members of the Fire Department to
fill the vacancies referred to, It was moved by Graves and
seconded by Barney that the appointments be approved, The motion
carried.
Bond No. 172029, by the American Casualty Company, for
T. A. Higney, City Clerk, Water Commissioner and City Engineer,,
in the amount o_ X5,000.00, was presented and read, It was moved
by Hartley and seconded by Vord.ahl that.the bond. be a;p- fired. 1'he:
motion carried.
A communication from the County Commissioners in regard
to valuation of tax deed property in which they reauested the co-
operation of. the City Council and school board in the setting of
valuations on these properties was read. he City Clerk was in-
atructed to notify them that the Mayor and City Council would be
glad to assist
It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Perry that we
do now a,d j ourn, she motion carried.
