Laurel, Montana,
July 2, 1929,
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to
order by Mayor James Pucera at 8.-00 O'clock P. 11. Tuesday t'uly 21A
1929.
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present;
Brohaugh
Porter
Chamberlin
Barney
Perry
Vordahl
Har tle y
The minutes of June 18th were read and approved,.
The report of the City Treasurer was presented and
read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Porter that the
report be approved. The motion carried,
The report of the Police Judge was presented and read,
It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Chamberlin that the report
be approved. The motion carried.
The report of the Water Commissioner was presented and
read. I? was moved by-Hartley and seconded by.-Perry that the re-
port be approved. The motion carried.
The report of the Chief of Police was presented and
read. It was moved.by. Perry and seconded by Chamberlin that the
,report be approved:.. The motion carried.
A representative of the Scotus Greater Shows and a
-committee of the American Legion appealed before the Council in
regard to a . carnival. .after. some discussion, it was moved by
Hartley and seconded by Ferry that the Council stand by a previous
motion to reject all petitions for a carnival, Upon roll call,
the following voted aye: Brohaugh, Porter, Chamberlin, Hartley,
Perry; and against; Barney, Vordahl, The motion carried, The
representative of the carnival company then stated that they would
have the carnival outside the City Limits and offered to make
proper restitution for police services, after farther discussion,
I it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Chamberlin that the pre-
vious motion be reconsidered, The motion carried. It was then
moved by Vordahl and seconded by Barney that the carnival be al-
lowed to show within the City under the auspices-610 the. American
Legion and the City to pass the license for the week of Augmt
19th to 24th, The motion carried,
The bills for the month of June were referred to the
Finance Committee and after due deliberation the Committee reported
back recommending the payment of the following bills;

It was moved by Perry and se conded by Barney , that the report of
the committee be accepted and that warrants be issued in the manner
recommended by the committee, The motion carried,
It was moved by Peary and seconded by Barns that the fb ill of
Mildred Erb for 21.00, hatzrel Outlook for 9.00, Montana Power
Co. for $904, Laurel Trading Go, for $14.,40, V. A. Leehner for
$60,00, V. .A.. "Lleehner for $5.00, 'Miftest Drug Co.., for $7,84
Herbert Bailey for $i5.15 and S. E. Anderson Motor Co, fe.r 41.9
be paid out of the Operating Fund. The motion carried.
The bill of G'. W. Kurrock for $2,50, refund on dog license was
rejected.
A letter from E. M. Grimes, Engineer of Water Service,
.was presented and read, After some discussion, the-Water Com-
missioner was instructed to write him that the Gi,ty Co roil was
willing to make a correction, provided, that a test be made the
latter part of September of.. first of October for a three hour
period and that mster gears be adjuste:d:' at that time and t4
request an acceptance in order that an allowance 'might be made
from month to month until final test be made; also that-the meter
be tested in the future every sax months,
The resignation of G. E. Hiner from the Eire Department
was presented and read.. It was moved by Barney and seconded by
Hartley than the resignation be accepted. The motion carried,'
A petition to have First Avenue North included in
Sprinkling District No l was presented and read. After some
discussion, the City Clerk was instructed.to make arrangements
for a meeting with the County Commissioners here,
.A petition for the construction of a sewer in 'fellow
stone and East Yellowstone Subdivisions was presented and read..
It was ordered filed for future consideration,
It was moved by Vord.ahl and seconded by Hartley that
we do now adjourn. The motion carried,<
