City Council Minutes 06.18.1929
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor Fames Encera at 9:30 P. M. Tuesday June 18, 1929. Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered prevent: Chamberlin Brohaugh Barney Vordahl Hartley The minutes of dune 4th were read and approved, The Water Commissioners report was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Barney that the report be approved, The motion carried. . A Custodian's Receipt for $5,400#00 Depository Bend for the Midland National Bank was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that this be aecepted as surety for 01ty deposits in the Midland National Bank. The motion carried. Mr. Charles Sande appeared before the Couneil and stated that he, with other individuals., wished to erect and install a standard light at the corner of First Avenue and Third Street, providing, however, that the City Would permit it being connected to Special Improvement Lighting Pistriat No. 2 It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Barney that the request be granted. The motion carried. ORDINANCE NO. 295-', Crdinaa-ce No. 295, being an ordinance regalatin.g travel, traffic and parking of vehicles upon the streets, avenues and, highways, was presented and read. After some discussion., It was referred to the Street and Alley Committee and after due deliber- ati.onI the committee reported back recommending its immediate passage. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Barney that the report of the committee be adopted and that the unanimous consent and vote of the Council be had to place Ordinanee No, 295 upon its immediate passage. Upon roll call, 411, Aldermen presentetoted aye, It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Barney that said Ordinance No, 295 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call, All Aldexmen present voted aye and said ordinance was declared passed and adopted. RESOLUTION NO. 357o Resolution No # 357, being a resolution transferring certain funds of the City of Laurel, was presented axed read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Barney that said reso- lution be.passed and approved. The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 358. Resolution No. 358, being irresolution levying 'taxes for the general and specific purposes for the City of Laurel, Montana, for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1929'. was pre- sented anal read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Vordahl that said resolution be passed and adopted. %agn roll call,. all Aldermen presente voted aye and said resolution''was declared passed and adopted, RESOLUTION NO, 3590 Resolution No. 359, being a resolution levying and assessing a tax upon the property described as Lots 3, 10 and 11 to 20, inclusive in Block 272 Allard Subdivision to defray the cost of making improvements abutting on said property, was presented and read, It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by ?. It was moved by Vordaahl and seconded by Hartley 1 that said resolut on be provisionally passed. and adoptecL. Upon - roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared provisionally passed.. I Pontiup appeared before the Council and requested permission to erect another pump and install another gas tank in front of Lot 22 -Blo of 97, Allard Subdivision, It , was moved by Hartley and,seeonded by Barney that hip request be granted.
