HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 08.19.1930Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Fontana, August 19, 1930. The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council. Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor James Kneera at 8:00 0 clock P. M. August 19, 1930, Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present: Brohaugh Chamberlin Barney Perry Hartley 1 The minutes of August 5th were read and approved. A request for a permit on Lots.19 and 220, Block 4, East Nelson, was presented and read. seconded by Hartley that the per carried, to construct a frame cottage Laurel Subdivision, by Chris It was moved by Perry and nit be granted. The motion A request for a permit to construct a frame cottage on Lots 5 and 6. Block 6, Laurel Realty Subdivision, by S. 00 Harris,was presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Brohaugh that the permit be granted. The motion carried, A request for a permit to construct a frame cottage on Lots 7 and S. Block 9, East Laurel, by W. 01 Baker was pre- sented and read, It was moved by Perry and.seconded by Hartley that the permit be granted. The motion carried, The Mayor appointed J. S. Brohaugh as electric Firing inspector. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Chamberlin that the Appointment be approved. The motion carried. A letter from the Midland National Bank to the City Treasurer in which they suggested changing other bonds for government bonds was presented and read. After some discussion, it was decided to hold to government bonds, i A. report from the Health Department in regatd to the quality of milk being sold, was presented and read. After some discussion, it was moved by Barney and seconded by Perry that the City ;attorney notify E. G. Sturm, Chas. Story and the Laurel Creamery that they would not be permitted to sell milk within the City of Laurel until they had matewith the requirements of the Health Department. The motion carried. A notice of claim for injuries sustained by Mrs. Mary. Elizabeth Brawn was presented and read. ORDINANCE NO. 300, Ordinance No, 300, being an ordinance establishing special improvement district revolving Fund No. 1 of the Gity of Laurel, was presented and read. After some diseussion, it was referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the Committee reported back recommending its immediate passage, it was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley that the report of the committee be adopted and that the unanimous consent and vote of the Council be had to place Ordinance No. 300 upon its im- mediate passage. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present.voted aye. It was moved by Barney and seconded by Perry that said Ordinance No. 300 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said ordinance was declared passed and adopted, ORDINANCE NO. 301. Ordinance No. 301, being an ordinance fixing a license for minature golf courses, was presented and read. Sfter some discussion, it was referred to the Fire and Police Oommittee and after due deliberation, the Committee reported back recommending its immediate passage. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley that the report of 'the committee be adopted and that the unanimous consent and vote of the Council -he had to place Ordi- nance No. 501 upon its immediate passage. It was moved by Brohaugh and seconded by Hartley that said Ordinance No. 301 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said ordinance was declared passed and adopted. -? i ORDIDAR 0E NO. 302 Ordinance No. 3029 being an ordinance amending a part of Section 450, Article 3, Chapter 13 of the Revised Ordinance of 1921, relating to house numbers, was presented and read. After some discussion'. it was referred to the Street and Alley Committee and after due deliberation, the Committee reported back recommending its immediate passage, It was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley that the report of the committee be adopted and that the unanimous consent and vote of the Council be had to plane Ordinance No. 302 upon its immediate passage. Upon roll call, all.Aldermen present voted aye. It was moved by Chamberlin and. seconded by "Brohaugh that said Ordinance No. 302 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen-pies ent voted aye and said ordinance was declared passed and adopted. The report of the 'Water Commissioner was presented and read. It was moved by Perry ahd.seconded by Hartley that the report be approved. The motion carried. The Mayor Appointed Yr. Territt as a member of the Fire Department. It was moved by ,ferry and seconded by Hartley that the appointment be approved. The motion carried. It was moved by ferry and seconded by Hartley that we do now adjourn until Wednesday, August 27th, at wbA4h time any business proper for consideration at this meeting might be transacted.
