the Oity council of the pity of Laurel met in regular
session in the V"ouncil chamber in the pity hall and was called to
order by fviayor dames Kucera at 8:00 o'clock P. i. march 18, 1930.
upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present.
Brohaugh
Barney
Chamberlin
Perry
Vordahl
Craves
The minutes of March 4th were read and approved.
Mr. Harr appeared. before the Council and requested per-,
misson to put in a temporary culvert in front of his garage on
Second Avenue.,, The matter was referred to the atreet and Alley
Committee.
Yx. Pee Sherrow, appeared before the City Council with
plans for a filling station of steel lath and plaster, eonstruction
It was moved by Vordah.l and seconded by Ferry that the permit be
rejected. Upon roll eallf three Aldermen voted: for and three voted
against. `hereupon, it was moved by Vord:ahl and seconded by Barney
that the ..question. he reconsidered. the motion carried.' It was
moved by Barney and seconded by Chamberlin that a permit be granted
in accordance with his request. The vote stood as follows: For
permiBarney, Chamberlin, Vordahl, Graves. Against: Perry.
The motion was'therefore declared carried.by the Mayor.
The City Treasurer appeared before the City Council and
requested instruction in regard to redeeming Bond No 34 of Special
Improvement District No. 6 for less than par, it was moved by
Barney and seconded by Graves that the City Treasurer be authorized
to redeem the bond for the money on hand. i:he motion carried.
The Treasurer also requested ins.truetion in regard to re-
deeming Bond No. 16 of Special Improvement sighting District iio. 2
for less than par. it was moved. by iarney and Seconde& by Vordahl
that the City Treasurer be authorized to redeem the bond for the
money on hand.! The motion carried.
It was moved by Perry and seconded by Barney that the
(following named places be designated as voting places for the
ensuing election of April 7s 1930:
{ First Ward.: • Carrie E. Erb,, residence.
Second iffi$rd : City Hall.
Third and South room of Theatre Building.
7ourth :hard: Perry 8e Tabman Store.
The motion carried.
It was,moved by Ferry a-nd seconded by Barney that the
following be appointed Judges and Clerks of election:;

Judges: Mrs. Carrie E. Erb, H. 4. Gunter, B. F. Lamb.
Clerks: Ida Miller, Nancy C. Sidwell.

The motion carried.
ORDINANCE NO. 297.
Ordinance No. a97, being an ordinance prohibiting the
explosion, use and sale of Fireworks, etc., within the City of
Laurel was offered and presented by Alderman Vordah.l, whereupon,
at the direction of the -Mayor, the same was duly read by the City
Clerk the first time and placed upon its passage. It was moved
by Alderman Vordahl and seconded by Alderman Perry that said
ordinance be passed. Upon-roll call, the following Aldermen
voted aye: Brohaugh, Barney, Chamberlin, Perry, Graves, Vordahl;
Wo3nmae, and the said ordinance was declared gassed on first
reading. •ihe Mayor then referred the ordinance to the Fire and
Police Committee with instructions to report thereon at.the next
regular meating, being the meeting of April I, 1930* and before the
final vote of adoption of said ordinance.
It was moved by Vordahl and seeonded'by perry that the
city Attorney confer w'th the; Fire and Police Committee and. draft
a dance hall license. .,"he motion carried.
It waa moved by Vordahl and.seconded by Perry that we co
now adjourn. The motion carried.
