The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor B.. Broughton at 8:00 o' clock P. L.1. h1ovember 1931.~ Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present Bray Porter Click Chamberlin Vordahi Hur le s s Graves Hartley The minutes of October 20, were read and approved. ,Ir. John Quilico appeared before the City Council in re- gard to his driveway at the atewarts Motor Company garage. after some discussion, it was decided to wait until spring for remodel- ing. I,11x H. A. Carlisle appeared before the City Council in regard to wood-sidewalk that had been removed from in front of his property on Fifth Avenue. It was moved by Hurless and seconded by Chambexlin that the Street Commissioner be instructed to deliver 'a like amount of old sidewalk material to his residence on Second Avenue. The motion carried. The report of the City Treasurer for the month of October was presented and read. Also a notice that Kountze Bros. Banking House': had been placed in the hands of a receiver. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Bray that the report be held over until the status of the City funds sent there to redeem bonds and coupons had been determined. The motion carried. It. was moved by Hartley and seconded by Hurlers that the City Treasurer and Cite Attorney be instructed to get all information { possible on the-claim against gountze Brothers. The motion carried., It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hurless that the City Attorney be instructed to notify the bondsmen of the City Treas user of the failure of Hountze Bros. Banking House The motion carried. I I The report of the Police Judge for the month ;of October was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Bray 1 that the report be approved. The motion carried. , The report of the Chief of Police for the month of October I was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by :dray that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Water Commissioner for the month of Sept- ember was presented and read. It was moved by Voxdahl and seconded by Click that the report be approved. The motion carried. i A report from the Fire Committee of the City Council and ? the Chief of the Fire Department concerning the. conditions along the ? Main Street Alley was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Porter that the property owners be notified to comply with the fire regulations by November 15, 1931. The motion carried. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Hurless that the Health Officer and the Chief of Police make an inspection of the Main Street Alley and require unsanitary conditions to be corrected. The motion carried. Mr. Porter was excused at this time A letter from V J. Hermel in regard to Bonds on Special y Improvement District Ito. 29 was presented and read. It, was referred to the City Attorney for his attention. s Minutes- of the City Council of Laurel Custodian's Receipt No. 0123 covering Txeasuxexy Bonds in the amount of $15,000.00 to secure the City deposits in the.. Midland National Bank was presented and read. Also Custodian Ts Receipt No. 176 covering Treasurery Bonds in the amount of $5000.00 to secure the City deposits in the Midland National Bank was pre- rented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Hurless that the security be approved. The motion carried. Custodian's Receipt No. 24860 covering Yellowstone County Bonds in the amount of $20,000.00 to secure the City deposits in the Yellowstone Bank was presented and read. It was moved and seconded That the security be approved. The motion'oarried. It was moved by Bartley and seconded by Click that the Yellowstone Bank be notified that on and after January 1, 1932 that Treasure-ry Certificates or Government Bonds would be required to insure deposits in the Bank and that the Fed:er.al' Reserve Bank at Helena had been designated as the custodian of such bonds. The mo- tion carried. The bills for the month of October were referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation the committee reported back recommending the payment of the following bills: Hersey Mfg. The motion carried. After some discussion about Geo. Mikesell working one shift, it was moved and seconded that the City Txeasurex collect $3.00 from Joe Nicholas on account of Mikesell being put"Waty without authority from the mayor.
