The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called, to order by Mayor James Ku.cera at 8:00 o'clock: P. M. 2-g-o$day April 7, 1931. Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present: ? Bray Chamberlin Perry .` Graves Hartley The minutes of Marcy 17th were read and approved. - ` A request for a perment from the Occident Elevator to erect a seed house west of the elevator. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Graves that the permit be granted, The motion carried. Baxney appeared at this time and participated in the further actions of the City Council. a request for a permit for lira. Preikszas to move her dwelling from the south end of Forest Avenge to 319 Third Avenge was presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Perry that the permit be granted. The motion carried. The report of the City Treasurer was presented and read. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Graves that the report be approved. The motion carried,. The report of the Chief of Police was presented and read. It was moved by Bray and seconded by Graves that-the report be approved. T'he'motion carried. The report of the Police Judge was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Chamberlin that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the eater Commissioner was presented and read. It was moved by 0hamberlin and seconded by Perry that the report be approved. The motion carried. After some discussion of a proposition from the baRr'l Motor company in regard to a truck, it was referred back to the. Finance Committee. The bills for the month of March were referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the Committee reported back recommending, the payment of the following bills Montana Power Co. $739.€3 H. It was moved by Perry and seconded by .Graves that the bill of The; Montana Power Gompan for $22.32, 0. J. Miller for 37.00, Montana. State Treasurer for 75.00, 'Goan Motor Company for 134.00, Laurel Outlook for $115.00, City Water Department for $22.53` and;'N. B. Stauffer for $5.00 be paid out of the Operating Fund. The motion carried. RESOLUTION DO. 385. Resolution ho. 385, being a Resolution transferring -certain funds of the City of Laurel, was presented and read. It was moved by Barney and seconded by Hartley that said resblution be passed and adopted. The motion carried. An application for dairy license from Geo. Sparks was referred back to the Health Officer. Custodian! s receipt covering 410,000.00 bonds. to seenre the City deposits in the Midland National Bank, at Billings, I?en- tuna, was presented for quarterly approval. It was moved by Graves and seconded by Hartley that the security be approved. The motion carried. Custodian's receipt covering $5,000.00 bonds to 'secure the City deposits in the Midland haational Bank, at Billings, Montana, was presented for quat-gerly approval. It was moved by 4arney- and seconded by Bray that the secu±ity be approved.. The motion earried.. Custodian's receipt covering 420,000:©0 bonds to secure the City deposits in the Yell&wstone Bank, 'at LaurelMon"'ana, was presented for quarterly approval'. It was moved by Barney and seconded by Graves that the security be approved.' The motion carried. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Perry that the Eire Committee be instructed to authorize the purchase of soda con- tainers for the Fire Truck'. The motion carried.` The Wate:r' Cofmmissionex was instructed to report the number of water users located on sewer line who were not, connected with the { sewer Mx. Lamport appeared before the City Council and re-ported that he was having trouble getting the right proportions of ?e and coarse aggregate in the pit on Frank Platz's place at the rival' and said that had checked over other available pits with the City ?rigineer that and that he was willing to make the set at the Mossmai.n hill on the premises -of E. X. fright without any additional charge if _t.he City Council was still willing to furnish that pit. After some discussion, Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Idontara, ? Ater some discussion of the-irrigation ditch on Railroad Street, it was moved by kerxy and seconded by Hartley that the City Engineer be instructed to take necessary steps to move tkhe irrigation ditch from the south side of Railroad 6treet to the north side of Railroad Street -on northern Pacific' property. The motion carried. After some discussion: in regard to the :drainage at tn.e east end it was moved b' y Perry and` seconded by Gx`aves that the City En- gineer get in communication with the 6tate Highway Department and see if they Would be willing to furnish 'two' culverts to be used where the streets approach the highway. The motion carried. The Mayor reported that the driveway across the horthern, Pacific right-of-way on Fifth Avenue could be straightened somewhat providing the Montana Power Company would move two electric light pales. It was moved by Perry and seconded by Hartley- that the Montana Power Company be requested to move the poles referred to. The motion carried. The Water Commissioner was instructed to apply the sum- men rates for irrigation purposes for the month of Lpril.
