Laurel, Montana,
March/7 1931.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to
order by Mayor James Kucera at 8:00 o'clock P. M. Tuesday March 179 1931.
Upon roll call, the following aldermen answered present
Bray
Chamberlin
Barney
Perry
Vordahl
Graves
The minutes of March 3:Cd were read and approved.
Mr. Frame, representing the laurel Oil and Refining
Company, appeared before the Council asking for an `easement for
a sewer pipe line through a portion of the City"s. property near
the Viewer beds. It was moved by Barney and seconded by Graves
that the request be granted and that the Mayor and City Clerk be
authorized to -enter into an agreement with the Laurel Oil' and
Refining Company for such easement, subject to the approval of
the State Board of Health, The motion carried.
Mr. B. E. Wallace appeared before the Council and asked
for further time in which to comply with his permit for a building,.
It was moved by Perry and seconded by Bray that additional time'be
grant" Mr. Wallace. The motion carried.
Mr. James Rollman appeased before the Council and asked
additional time in which to comply with his permit for a building.
It was moved by 'Vox dahl and seconded by Graves that additional time
be granted Mr. Rollman.- The motion carried,
DRDINANCE NO. 306
Ordinance. No, 306, being an ordinance revising and
amending Section 182 of Article 3 of Chapter 6' and Section 672 -of
Article 1 of Chapter 21 of Ordinance No,228, being the Revised
Ordinances of the City of laurel, was presented and read. After
some discussion, it was referred to the:Fire and Police Gommittee
and after due deliberation, the committee reported back recommend-
ing its immediate passage, It was moved by Vordahl and seconded
by Perry that the report of the Committee be' adopted and that the
unanimous consent and vote of the Council be had, to place Ordinance
No. 306 upon its immediate passage. Upon mall call, all aldermen
present Voted aye. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Perry
that said Ordinance N6-, 346 be passed and adopted, Upon roll call,
all Aldermen presented voted aye and said ordinance was declaned
passed and adopted.
It was moved by Berney and seconded by Perry that the
following Judges and Clerks be appointed for the election to be
held April 69 1931:
First Wards
Judges Mrs. Ida L. Miller, Airs. Emily Shaffer, Mrs
Carrie aE Erb
Clerks; H, 0. Gunter, Laurence Z. Smith,
Second Ward
Judges: L. R. Shay, Minnie Miller, J A. Spencer.
Clerks; Thomas R. Holmes, D. H. McCauley.
Third Ward-
Judges; Marguerite Palmer, pars. I.da Lonne, Mrs`. May
Glark.

The motion carried
It was moved by Barney and seconded by Perry-that the
following. places be designated as palling places for said election:
First Ward; Xrs. C. B. Erb residence:
Second Ward-: Qity Hell.
Third Ward: New Yellowstone- Hotel.
Fourth Ward: Perry Tour st Cabin.
The motion carried.
r The matter of lowering Third Avenue, between First and
Merin Streets, came up for discussion. It was moved by Perry and
"seconded by Vordahl that the grade be reduced at an expense not to
exceed $200,00. The motion carried.
The Mayor was compelled to leave at this time and C. E.
Perry, president of the Council, presided in his absence.
It was moved by Yordahl and seconded by Bray that the
Goan Motor Company be given permission to sallow the fire truck
driver to room in the Laird_Apartents or at the Lennox Hotel,
provided, telephones were installed in their rooms at the company's
expense. The motion carried.
It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Graves that the
City start `hauling garbage April ,ist, or as soon thereafter as the
streets would permit, The motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried!
