The City council of the City of Laurel met in'regular, session
in the Council Ohamber in the City Hall and was called to order, by Mayor
R. Broughton at 8;00 o'clock P. M, Tuesday October 4, 1932.
Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present;

The minutes of .September 20th were read and approved.
mr. Gardner appeared before the City Council in regard to
plans for his refinery and, after some 'discussion, it was moved by v or-
dahl and seconded by Hurless that the matter be referred to the Fire
Committee. The motion earried.
Mr. A. R. Barney appeared before the City Council and stated
that he had been operating an Auto Vixecking place since the. first of
the year and requested a classification for license purposes as low as
could be made. After some discussion, it was moved by VOTdahl and see-

onded by Dull that he be classified as a secondhand dealer and license
be set at $5.00 per quarter. The motion carried.
The report of the Chief of police was presented and read. It
was moved by Dull and seconded by Oiiak that the report be approved.
The motion carried.
The. rePort of the Police Judge was presented and read. It was
_ moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Dull that the report be approved.
The motion carried.
The report of the .City Treasurer was presented and read. It
was moved by pall and seconded by Hurless that the report be approved.

ance Committee and after due deliberation, the committee reported back

It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Click that the report of the
Committee be adopted and that warrants be issued in the manner recom-
mended by the Committee,. The motion carried.
A CustO+s's Receipt executed by the Federal Reserve Bank
.of Helena covering $15,000.00 Fourth Liberty Bonds held as security
fox deposits in the Midland National Bank of Billings was presented for
approval. It was moved by Yordahl and seconded by Bray that the security
be approved.' The motion 'carried.

Custodians Receipt No. 0-123 executed by the Federal Reserve
Bank of Helena covering $15,000.00 Treasurery Bonds was presented for re-
lease. It was moved by Bray and seconded by Vordahl that the Treasurer
be authorzed,to release the Custodian's Receipt. The motion carried.
Custodian's Receipt No. 0-164 covering $5,000.00 3 j% Treas-
ury Bonds executed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Helena held-as security

for deposits i Midland n the National Bank of Billings was presented for

quarterly approval. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Dull that
the security be approved. The motion carried.
A Custodian's Receipt executed by the First National Bank of
Minneapolis covering $20,000 of Yellowstone County Bonds held as security
for deposits in the Yellowstone Bank of Laurel was presented for quarter-
ly approval. it was moved by Hartley and seconded by Hurless that the
security be approved,. The motion carried.
.A. communication from Oswald F. Benwell in regard to 1923 Water
Bonds was presented and read. After some d1souasion, it was moved by
Hartle and seconded by Click that the City Treasurer be authorized to
offer `70000. The motion carried.`
A communication from R. C. Hulbert in which he offered to sell
Bond No. 4 of Special Improvement 'District No. 28 for $85.89, and Bond {
No. 29 of Special Improvement District No. 31 for $70.73 was presented
and read. The treasurer reported that the bonds were next in order of
retirement and that was the balances in the funds at present. It was
moved by Hartley and seconded by Dull that the City Treasurer be author-
ized to puxchase the above described. bonds:. for the amounts specified. -
The motion carried.
A request to operate a restaurant and oil station by Morris
fight was presented and read.. it was moved by Hurless and seconded by j
Click that the request be granted and that the City Treasurer be author-
ized to issued license. The motion carried.

A request to operate a wholesale oil station by Lester Gari ner
was presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by
Hurless that his request be granted and the City Treasurer authorized to
issue license. The motion carried.

A request/to construct a two stall frame garage on lots 19 & 20
block 3 East Laurel Sub. was pre9ted and read. It was moved by Click and
seconded by Lull that the request be granted. The motion, carried. a,
The City Engineer reported that the Manager of the Montana
Poorer Co. had reported that the Company did not feel that it was' a part
of the contract to reset the ornamental light pole on Pennsylvania Ave.,
but would do so if the Council insisted upon it. It was moved by Hartley
and seconded by,Dull that the Power Company be informed that the City
Council insisted upon it. The motion carried.
The Street & Alley Committee reported recommending the purchase
of an 'easement along the north boundary line extended from the northeast
corner of the City along the quarter-section line of section 10, 2 S.,
Range 24 E. ,i.r.i. to its intersection with the highway, a distance of
855 feet aprox mately, from V. B. Parkish and L. A. Nutting with the
understanding that the money be paid to L. A. Nutting. it was moved by
Dull and seconded by Porter that the report of the Committee be adopted
and the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to-execute a contract. The
motion carried.
