august 16, 1932.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and
to order by Mayor A. Broughton at 8:00 o'clock P. M.
August 16, 1932.

Upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present;
Bray
Porter
Chamberlin
Vordahl
Hurless
Hartley
approved.
The minutes of august 2nd, 3rd and 8th were read and
1&r. Bartholf appeared before the Council to protest the
location of a power line.in front of his property on Washington.
Avenue to serve Mr.,Hodges daixy barn at the north city limits.
Mr. MacDonald and Mr. Hodges spoke in favor of the line.
Mayor Broughton received a call and Eels vor dah 1, Pres-
ident of the Council, presided during the krayoxs absence.
After some discussion, it was moved by Chamberlin and
seconded by Hurless that the permit for the power lime to The
Montana Power Company be granted. The saotion carried.
Mayor Broughton returned and.presided during the remain-
der of the meeting.
T,,Ir. Gardner and Mr. Bradford appeared before the City
Zouncil in regard to locating a small refinery within the city
limits. After some discussion, it was moved by ;furless and see-
ondeds.by Hartley that the City Council would grant them a permit
to build providing they complied with state regulations and that
satisfactory plans?:;and specifia6t ons be presented and approved
by the City Council.
A co.mmunieation from the;-.State Examiner in regard to
publishing Examiner's report was presented and read. It was moved
by Porter and seconded by Hartley that the Laurel outlook be des-
ignated for that purpose and the city Clerk be instructed to noti-
fy the State Examiner. The motion carried.
The Clerk read a complaint and summons in an action
started by the Retail Hardware Mutual Fire Insurance Company a-
gainst the City of Laurel and the matter was referred to the City
Attorney for such action as he deems necessary.
RESOLUTION NO. 411
Resolution No. 411, being a resolution levying and
assessing taxes for the payment of bonds issued against Special
Lighting Improvement District No. 3 of the City of Laurel, Montana,
for the payment of improvements therein, was presented for final
passage. The Clerk produced proof of publication in the laurel
Outlook and informed the City Council that no protests had 'been-
received. it was moved by Vor dahl and seconded by Hartley that
final passage and approval of said resolution be made. Upon roll
call, all Aldermen present voted aye. Thereupon the,Mayor 'declared
said Resolution No. 411 finally passed and adopted.
RESOLUTION NO. 412.
Resolution No. 412, being a resolution levying and
assessing taxes for the payment of bonds issued, against Special
Improvement Parking District ,No. 1 of the City of Laurel, Montana,
for the payment 'of improvements therein:, was presented for final
passage. The Clerk produced proof of publication in the Laurel
outlook and informed the CityCounail that no protests had been
received. It was moved by Perte and seconded by Hartley that
final passage and approval of 'said resolution be "made. Upon fall
call, all Aldermen present voted aye. Thereupon' the Mayor declared
said Resolution No. 412 finally passed and.adopted.

Resolution No. 4139 being a resolution levying taxes
for general and specific purposes for the City .Of Laurel, Mont
an&, for the fiscal year -beginning Jul let, 1932, was present

ed and read. It was moved by Hartley and seemed by Harlsee
that said resolution be passed and adopted. Upau. ro31rca11 .1 all
aldermen present voted aye and said reddlutJon as declared passed
and adopted. ?v
After some discussion of gravel sold from the Mossmain
Pit, it was moved by Hartley and seconded by Vordahl that the
$25.00 received should be refunded to E. r. Wright and that same
be considered a part of the five thousand yards re.ser"d by him
in the contract for gravel.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried.
