Laurel, Fontana,
April 11, 1932.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in special session
in the Council Chamber in the City Hall to review the election returns
of April 4, 1932, and was called to order by Mayor R. Broughton at 8:00
o'clock P. ..April 11, 1932.
Upon roll call, the following.Aldermen answered present:
Bray
Porter
Chamberlin
Vor dah3
Hu.r le s s
Craves
Hartley
The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to canvass
the election returns of April 4, 1932, and thereupon named as tellers
I' Brayf Hurless and Hartley. After reviewing the returns the Committee re'---
ported back the following: votes;

It was; moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that the report of the
Committee be adopted and that the officers be declared elected as follows:
W. E. Porter, Alderman First :hard.; W. F. Chamberlin, Alderman Second QNard;,
Nels Vo'rdahl, Alderman Third Ward; Harry Dull, Alderman Fourth Ward. The
motion carried.
A communication from the Stewart Stepplejaek Co., in which-they,
offered to do the labor of painting the water tank for ?i25.00 was pre
senlod and read. It was moved by Yoxdahl`?and seconded by Ghaaab-erlan that
the communication be tabled for the time being. The motion carried.
gayox Broughton stated that in line with other reduction in sal-
aries and expenses he thought it right and proper that the .City Council
reduce their operating expenses by reducing all wages,.sd' aries and. fees
paid by the City of Laurel 14% and asked the Tax Opmmtttee,, consisting of
Harless, Vordahl and Hartley; to make their recommendation at this time.
Thereupon the Committee retired with the City Attorney and, after due del-
iberation,reported back recommending that all salaries, wages and fees of
employees and officers of the City be reduced 10P and..that the officers
e_qaesteA to agree to
whose salaries are fixed by ordinance or statute be r-e
this arrangement It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Porter that the
report of the Committee be adapted. The motion carried.
It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Porter that we do now
adjourn. The motion carried.
