Broughton at 8:00 o'clock P M., 'April 5, 1932. Uponroll call the following Aldermen answered present: Porter Bray Chamberlin. click vor Bahl Hurl. es s Graves Har t ley The minutes of March 9th, 11th and 15th- were read, and approved. Mr. Vorris, Mr, Butting and Mr. Everett `appeared before the Council and stated that they were a committee of the local tax payers Association and had been. ' instructed to appear before the Council to re- ? quest a reduction in taxes. After some discussion, the Mayor appointed a Hu.rless, Vo.rdahl and Hartley :as a committee to stud the tax problem with the Committee from the tax payers Association. The report of the City Treasurer was presented and read. It j was moved by Hartley and seconded by Porter that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Chief ©f .Police was presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Hartley that the report be ap- proved. The motion carried. The report of the Police judge was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Click that the report' be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Water Commissioner for the month of February was presented and read.. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that the report be approved. The motion carried. After some discussion about fuel oomsumption, it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that the Water Committee of the City council study the fuel consumption for the pump house and City Hall. The motion carried. -- The report of the Health officer was presented and read. It was moved by vordahl and seconded by Hurless that the report be approved. The motion carried. communication from D. J. Wieil in which he offered to sell Bond Ho.. 19` of Special ImprVvement District NO. 18, whieh-- is the last outstanding bond in said district, in'the amount of $77.78 for $34.18, ? being the amount of money now on hand in District Ito. 18. It was moved vordahl and seconded by Porter that the City Treasurer be authorized to redeem said bond at ,$34.38. The motion carried. The fire escape on the AcCauley-Spencer building was reported in bad order and the City Engineer was instructed to see that it was re- paired, I Authorization blanks for fire losses of Feb. 19th from the Board of Fire Undexwriters was presented and read. It, was moved by Vor- dahl and seconded by Hartley; that the City Treasurer be authorized to execute necessary forms for settlement thereof. The motion carried. Three letters of recommendation for John Gusick from John Hen- nesey, Mayor of Broadview, Chief of Police J. H. FseAl3ister , of Red lodge,. an:d`John Popovich, Sheriff at Roundup, vvere presented and read. it was moved by Hartley and seconded. by Hurless that the license be denied. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded. by Hurless that the license be granted. The motion carried. An application to construct a sheet iron building 20' x 201 on Lot 101 4196k 13, Laurel. Realty subdivision, by Hazel oody was pre'- seated and read. It was moved by Hurless and seconded by Hartley that the permit be -granted. The motion, carried. The City Engineer reported that the officers of the p olytechnic Institute thought that they might be able to use the hook and ladder and hand Bart. After some discussion, it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Porter that the matter be referred to the Committee on Fire and Police. ` The motion carried. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Vordahl that Sherrow Bras,. be invited to have a representative at the next regular meeting of the City Goun.eil to show cause why they should not be liable fo r wholesale license. The motion carried. The bills for the month of 14areh were referred to the Finance Committee and after due' deliberation the committee reported -bac k-recommend- ing the payment of: the _following bills: The Mont.
