The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regalar: aesson in the Council Chambers in the City Hall and was called to order by m4rgT R. Broughton at_ 8: 00, O clock P. X. March 1, 1933. `' Upon rQll call the fallowing. Aldermen answered present: Porte",., Bray Chamberlin Click Qo rdahl Har les s Hartley 0r aver. The minutes of February 16th were read and Approved. r. Leo Suddith and J. S. Brohaugh appeared before the City Council in regard`to.electrical wiring. After some discussion, it was mooed by Hartley and seconded by Hurless that"the City Ord- inanoe relative tbhe eto be enforced as closely as practical and the Montane. Power Company be requested to delay hook-up until the in- speotar had approved the wiring. The motion carried. The report of the Police judge for the month of February was presented and read. it waa moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Craves that the report b approved. The motion curried. The report of the Chief of Police for the month of February was presented and' read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Porter that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Health Officer for the month of February was presented and read. it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that the report be.appio*ed... The motion carried. i The report of the City Treasurer for the month of February was presented and read. It was moved by Hart3:ey and- seconded by porter that the report be approved as ' read. The motion' carried. The report of the Water Commissioner for the month of Jan Nary was - presented; an . read. it was' moved by Vordahl and seconded by Craves that the report be approved as read. The motion carried. A request for license from Dom, Platt to operate a blacksmith- shop was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Brag that the request be granted and that the City -!Rr'easurer be author- zed to issue lieenae. The motion carried. A request for license to, operate a Clothing stare by Macintosh & Saterlee, to be known as the cutlet Store Company, was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Craves that the request be granted and that the City Treasurer be authorized to issue license. The motion carried.. The motion carried. The Committee appointed at the last re wLar meeting to inter- vi ew J. -F. Jaekeoip in regard to right-of,-way and e1tra land for dump grounds reported that a strip thirty feet wide from the pumphouse ground to the dump grounds along the river bank and all that portion of land East and South of the B. L. & 1, ditch belonging to J. F. Jackson could be purchased from him for the aam of 'Fifty: Dollars. it was moved by HaYtley and seconded by Porter that the land be purchased and the City A-#orney instruQted to _draw "pars for the execution of the purchase. m' The motion carried. A letter from Whitman, Ransom, dolsen & Goetz in regard to the ? _ funds in the defunct Kountze Bros. Baiak was presented and read. The City 1 Attorney was requested to get the prises- for the handling of the case. I After some discussion o.Vpower poles at the Thompson Yard corner on Bain Street and Third Avenue, it was moved by Vordahl and see- amded by Huxless that they 'be instriated to remove the pole if it be found defective. The motion carried. After considering the report of the Fire Adjuster, it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hartley that Laird be employed to repair the firer damage. Mr. Porten was excused at this time After some discussion of three or four eases where the owners- of dogs wanted to work out the dog license, it was moved' by Hartley and seconded by Hurlers that the City Treasurer be authorized to accept labor for the payment of dog license. 'Upon rell'call, Bvay,, Click, Vordahl and Graves voted no; Chamberlin, Hurleea and Hartley voted afire. The motion lost.
