The City Council of the City of laurel met in regular session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor R. Broughton at 8:00 0' clock. P. iii. Tuesday October 21, 1933. L Upon roll call the following Aldermen answered ,present; Bray Poster Chamberlin Law Vo rda hl Reardon Dull 0onrad The minutes of Rovember 3rd were read and approved. A delegation from the Yellowstone Labor Union No. 2 appealed before the City Council. Mi. Ranger spoke to the Council urging the necessity 'of putting men to woxk. Ira Rodgers appeared before the City Council and stated that he would like to see the outlying districts moved nearer the center of town. The annual city tax bill amounting to $203.41 was refer,-, red to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation the-Com- mittee reported back recommending payment at this time. it was moved by Law and seconded by Vordehl that the report of the Com- mittee be accepted and that warrants be issued in the manner iec- ommended by the Committee. The motion carried. i A letter from the American legion in which they requested the first chance to put on a carnival in the City of Laurel was pre- sented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded: by Dull that the communication be acknowledged, that there appeared to be no objection to a carnival but the Council" would like to be advised of the name and standing of the carnival intending to play in laurel before entering into contract. The motion carried. RESOLUT10h D0. 422. Resolution No. 422, being a resolution regulating speed of traffic on 111ain Street was presented and read. it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Bray that said resolution ho. 422 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared passed and adopted. ORDIPANCE 110. 324. Ordinance loo... 324, being an ordinance amending Ordinance ho. 295 of the Ox&inamces of the City of- Laurel Regulating Travel, Traxf c, Vehicles, Automobiles and other Conveyances was presented and read. it was moved by Vordar4 and seconded by Dull that the unanimous cons-ent and vote of the. 0ounc l be had to place Ordinance No. 324 upon itts imed.iate passage-..V-pon roll call, all, Aldermen present voted aye. It was moved by Vgrdahl'and seconded by Dull that said Ordinance No. 324 be passed and adopted. Upon roll: pall` all Aldermen present voted ape and said'ordiname was declared pass- ed and adopted. A petition for the construction of-810 feet of six inch east iron water main between Montana Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue signed by the resident property Owners was presented and read. it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Dull., that the City advertise for pipe -.and write ---the `tax department of ?'the Northern Pacific Rail:- way Company requesting permission to put this line in without the formality of an improvement district and that the property owners along this line be instructed to replace any iron pipe service limes now in existence with copper pipe. The motion carried. I i I Minutes of the City' Council of 'Laurel Laurel, Montana, November 21, 1933, cont. An application by A. J. Scholz for the construction of a two stall garage on his property on Sixth Avenue was presented and read. It was moved by Verdahl and seconded by Dull that his request be granted. The motion 'carried. An application by-.'G- F. Li.ndauer for the construction of the addition to his cottage= on East Fourth Street was pre- sented and read.. It was moved by Dull and seconded by Reardon that his request be granted. The motion carried. The mayor reported on the progress made with the civil Works Administration in regard to work: here in Laurel and stated that Mr. Berg would be in Laurel Friday November 24th to regis- ter any unemployed that had failed to register up to this time. The Clerk was instructed to provide additional help for the-registration of the unemployed laborers. The name of A. J. Ranger and Chas. Fahy was suggested. The Clerk was instructed to secure 300 cerples of the Mayor's notice to unem 1.p?ed laborers and to deliver them to the Labor union. It was moved by Porter and seconded by Dull that we do now adjourn.until es day November 28th at 8 , 00 o f clo c k` P. M. to receive bids on pipe.
