Lauxel, Montana,
October 17, 1933.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was ' called to
order by Mayor R. Broughton at 8,00 o'clock P. 11, Tuesday, October
17, 1933.
Upon roll call the following Aldermen andwered present;

..r The minutes of October 3rd were read and approved.
_mri4, An application by Nick Kraus fox license to operate a
shoe ehop was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and
seconded by Dull that the application be granted and the city Treas-
user authorized to issue license. ;The motion carried.
A bill of JE. R. Beighley in the amount of $$5.25 was ref-
ferred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation: the-Fin-
ance Committee reported back recommending the payment of the bill.
It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Dull that the report of the
Committee be adopted and that warrants be issued in payment of the
bill. The motion carried. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by j
Porter that the City Clerk be instructed to deriver the warrants to
E. R. Beighley upon the payment of his water bill. The motion carried.
An application to erect a frame garage by C. A. Raton on the
rear end of lot 7, Block 2, East Laurel Subdivision, was presented` `.and
read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Law that the applica-
tien be denied on the grounds that the property described was within
the fire district. The motion carried.
After some discussion of holes in the oil streets, =it was
mowed by Vordahl and seconded by Dull that the city purchase a'tank
of oil to mix with gravel for repair purposes. The motion carried.
The Police Committee, which had been instructed. to look'
into the matter of increased salary for policemen,--reported recom
mending that the salaries remain the same. it was moved by Bray and
seconded by Dull that the report of the Committee be adopted. ` The
motion carried.
The Mayor named Councilman Conrad on the 8treet &o Alley
Committee, on the Fire & Police Committee, on the Park committee and
on the Purchasing Committee. A communication from Mr. E. T. grumaim of Winona, Minn.,
in regard to bond Do. 11 of, Special Improvement District Eq. 25 was
piesented and- read. The Clerk was instructed to notify him that there
were no funds available for paying the band.
After some discussion of the appraisal of lots within the
city of Lauxel, it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Dull that the
following resolution. be spread on the minutes and a copy 'forward.edto
the County Commissioners. The motion carried.
"The recent and last appraisment of the, Board of
County Commissioners of Yellowstone County, montana., of lots
in Laurel for which the County holds tax deeds was to high
and the City Council finds that the appraised valuations of
said lots were to high,
ROW, THEREFORE , BE IT =SOLVED that the City
Council hereby requests the said Board of County Commis
r sioners to reappraise said lots and that the City Clerk
