r i Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Montana, August 15, 1933. The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was -called to order by Ltayor R. Broughton at 8:00 o'clock P. M. Tuesday August.-l51 1933. Upon roll call the following Aldermen answered present Bray Porter Chamberlin LSw Reardon Vordahl Hartley 1 The minutes of August lst and 9th were read and approved. Ex. Harp appeared before the City Council and requested permission to erect a Neon sign over the sidewalk shoving a beer mug and 3.2;. after some discussion, it was moved by Hartley and` seconded by Porter that the request be denied. The motion carried. John Moran appeared before the City Council in regard to gasoline tanks and pumps at the intersection of Main street and Third Avenue. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by porter "that his request be granted. The motion carried. A request for license by Ted Viers to operate the "Co-op" Service Station in the Coulter Filling Stat on was presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Hartley that his request be granted and the City Treasurer be authorized to issue license. The motion carried. A report signea by Herbert Bailey, Chief of Police, and B. L: Price, Cite attorney, in regard to license for Billie Carlile was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Bray that the license be granted. The motion carried.' A request from, the Firemens Fund Indemnity Company that ? their bond executed in favor of R. J. Harris be cancelled was pre sented and read. It was moved by Vozdahl and seconded by Hartley that the bond be cancelled. The motion carried. RESOLUTI RO. 41:8. Resolution N©. 418, being a resolution levying and assessing a special tax against certain designated property for the removal of garbage, snow, weeds and refuse was presented: and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Chamberlin that said resolution be provisionally passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared pt ovis onally passed. RESOLUTION NO. 4-19. Resolution No. 419, being a resolution levying ;and assessing all of the property embraced within Special Improve- ment Lighting District No. 1 of the City of Laurel, ontar,?_,, with three-fourths of the entire cost of maintenance and elec- trio current for the year 19,?O°was presented as tl regd. It was moved by Hartley and se?anded by Reardon --that--said r ego-lotion be,pr o- yisional passed and adopted. Upon roll call, all &idermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared provisionally passed. RESfl3U1'I DC . 450. Resolution No. 420, being a resolution levying and assess- ing all of the property embraced within. Special' Imrpovament Bighting District No. 2 of the City of Laurel, Montana, with three-fourths' of the entire cost of maintenance and electric current for the year 1933, was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and Law that "- said resolution be provisionally passed and adopted. Upon roil call, all Aldermen present voted `aye and said resolution was declared pro- j visionally passed. It., was mooted by Qordahl and seconded by Hartley that the bore. be approved. The motion carried. The Street & Alley, Committee reported recommending that the light post on First Avenue South remain at its present location. it was moved by Vordahl.and seconded by Law that the report of the Committee be adopted. The motion carried. After some discussion of relief matters, it was moved by Hartley and seconded by Law that the Mayor appoint a relief committee. The Mayor stated that he would name the committee later. The 'Mayor named Hartley, chairman:, with Vordahl and Law and instructed the Clert to notify them. The Clerk was instructed to write the V. P. Railway Company in regard to the. culvert on the west side of Alder Avenue extended and request them to lower the entrance. It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The motion carried.
