The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular .I session in the Council Chamber in the City LTall-and was called to. order by mayor- H. ` Broughton at, 8: 00 01 clock': P . Id. Tuesday august 1933. Upon roll ball the following-Aldermen answered present: Bray Chamberlin Law Vordahl Reardon, Hartley Dull The minutes of July 18th and 25th were read and apps oved. Mr. Price and Mr. Bayer appeared before the City Ooumcil in regard to sending firemen to the Firemenis -School'at Bozeman. it was moved by Dull and seconded by Vordahl that they be, alioued $50.00. The motion carried. It was moved by Dull and seconded by Vordahl that the license for the carnival showing under the auspices of the Nulurteer Fire Department be wai-ved in favor of the Fire Department. zhe Motion carried. j It was moved by Law and seconded by Dull that the Firemen get permission fromthe City Council before signingeon rack -f.or carnivals in the"fuitare. The motion carried. The report of the Police judge for the month of duly was presented and read:. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that the report be approved. The motion darried. The report of the Chief of Police, for the month of 'july; was presented and read. It way moved by Law and, seconded; by Chambexlin that the report be approved. The motion carried. The City Clerk was instrueted -to.notify the industrial Accident Board that the Cite would pay premiums.on the Balief Wort. petition from Laurel Milling company, Beene-yt '-s Fir e c king _W.-. Shop, and Geo. Har3ani s Filling •",: -Station xequest g that the street light south of their places be moved to the intersection of First Avenue and Railroad Street was, presented and read. It was moved by Dull and. seconded by Reardon that it be referred to the Street & Alley Committee. The motion carried. A communication from the Volunteer Fire Department in which they recommended Earl' Fuller as a member of the Department was presented and read. it was moved by Hartley and seconded by Dull that the matter be held Aver until the next meet ng. Upon roll call Bray, Chamberlin, Law,-Vordahl and Reardon voted "nog, and Hartley and Dxz11 voted. "yes",. The motion lost. Thereupon the Tia,yor appoint- ed Earl Fulled: as a member of the Laurel VA44teer Fire Department. It a moved by VQrda hl and seconded by law. t-hat the appoiir tment be j approved. Upon roll call BT0.7, Chamberlin., Law, Vordahl and Reardon voted "yea" and Hartley and Dull voted "no".' The motion carried. I The report of the Health officer for the month of July was presented and read. It was moved by Vord.ahl and zeoonded' by Hartley tht t the report be approved. The motion carried. A bill of The Fontana Po wer Company for $8,05 fo r repairing a light pole on Main Str eet supposed to have bee n broken by Elmo S.outhworth of Park City was ordered held over and the City Clerk was instructed to collect that amount from Mr. Southworth. After some discus sion of license for Billie Carl ileto operate a rooming house it was mov ed by Law and seconded b y ;gull that the matter be referred to the Chief of 1?ol3oe and the.-City Attorney for investigation and that license be,granted pro viding they were operating within the law . The motion carried. A circular letter recommendincon:fOrmty to the .NBA movement was presented and read. After some iisenssion, i t was ordered held over until codes for City Governments had bee n pro' mulgated. The City, Attorney was instructed to 'write Mr. T. d. Derrig, kas' t. to Chief g. N.
