Minutes of the City Council of Laurel
Laurel, Montana,
June 23, 1933.
The C ty'Conncil of the City of Laurel met in `special
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to
order by Mayor R. Naughton at 8:00 o'clock P. M., Friday June 23rd,
1933.
The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called at the
request of the Police Committee to discuss Police matters.
Upon roll call the following Aldermen answered present:
Bray
Porter
Chamberlin
Law
Vordahl
Reardon

Billie Carlile appeared before the Qity.00un.cil in re
gard to obtaining license for operating the Lennox Hotel. After
some discussion, it_ was moved by law and seconded by Dull that
she be permited to operate the Lennox Hotel until the next regular
meeting while investigation: is being made. The motion carried.
After some discussion of police matters, it was moved by
Dull and aeconded by VordahI that a day Policeman _be employed at
$75.06 a month and that the night watchman's pay be reduced to 75.00
per month effective July lst. The motion carried.
The mayor appointed Bray, Chamberlin, Reardon and Hartley j
as a Committee to report on license.
The Clerk was instructed to write the Chief of Police at
Shelby to ascertain:' what kind of a place that Mrs, Billie Osrlile
operated there.
The' first Tt esday in July being on the 4th the Mayer set
Wednesday Ju-1y 5th as the first regular meeting. 1
It was moved and seconded that we do now adJ ourn. the mo-
tion carried.

1, Ethel Defranee, hereby certify that the above
is a true and correct itemized statement of the cost and
expense incurred by me in the water main extension on Cot-
tonwood Avenue between Fourth and Fifth Streets which said
water main was laid in the year 1930.
Dated this 20th day of dune, 1933.
