The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor R. Beou.ghton at 800 02010101C P. M. Tuesday June. 6, 1933. upon roll call, the following Aldermen answered present: Bray Porter Chamberlin Law Vordahl Reardon Dull The minutes of May 5th were read and approved. Herman George appeared before the City Council in regard to placing culverts in alley in Block 1, Yellowstone Subdivision., The Street Commissioner was instructed ta_put in culverts, Mr. Harp appeared before the City Council in regard to further time for paying his license„ It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that the matter be referred to the Finance Com- mittee. The motion carried. The report of the Chief of Police was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Dull that the report be approved. The motion carried. _ The report of the City Treasurer was presented and read, It was moved by Dull and seconded by Reardon that the peport be approved. The motion carried. An application to construct a filling station by S. M. Thornton was presented and read. It was moved -by Dull and seconded by Vordahl that the permit be granted. The motion carried. An application by M. Johnson to run a hotel was presented. and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Dull that the City Treasurer be authorized to issue a license., The motion carried, An application for a plumbing license for Geo. Frisby was presented and read, It was moved by Vordahl, and seconded by Porter that the application be approved ahd that the City Treasurer be authorized to issue license. The motion carried, An application to run a rooming house by Susie Ogg was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Bray that the application be approved and that the City Treasurer be authorized to issue license. The motion carried. An application to operate the Palace Eats by F. A. Jacobs was pre- sented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Dull that the City Treasurer be authorized to issue license. The motion carried. An application to sell cigarettes by Jess R Snavely was presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Dull that the City Treasurer be authorized to issue license. The motion carried. An application by Victor Williams to run a sort drink parlor and card tables was presented and read. It was moved by Law. and seconded by Dull that the City Treasurer be authorized to issue liceese. The motion carried. A letter from Mr. .Arthur P. Hays in which he offered Bond No. 19 of $600.00 face value on Special Improvement Lighting District No. 2 for $315.85, being the amou:ht of money now on hand, and said bond No. 19 being the next bond in line for payment, It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Dull that said bond No. 19 be purchased for 315,65, The motion carried. A letter from the Colorado National Bank in which they offered to sell Bond No. 36 of 1OOiOO face value on Special Improvement District No. 7 for 24.102 which is the amount of money now-on hand. It was moved. by Bull and seconded by Vordahl that the City Treasurer be authorized to buy said Bond No. 36 for`24.10. The motion carried. The bills for the month of May were referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation, the Committee rep orted back recommending the payment of the following bills; R. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Bray that the r eport of the Committee be accepted and that warrants be issued in the manner _ recommended by the Commi ttee, The motion carried, After some dis cussion, it was moved by yordah l and seconded by Pull that the official band of Wilbur B. -w jkgins ,as 'Gity Treasurer in the sum of 1fl,0001!00 for the term beginning may 1, `1933, and ending_ gay _t 1935; furnished by the N ational Surety Company of Few Yo rk, the risk of whieh was assume d by the National Surety 09rporat ion of New `York, be and the sam e hereby is, eoncelled as of the date of May 179 19354 and that the City Cler'k: notify the companies of this action and that the earned premium for-the time the bond wa s in effect be paid by the City upon the presentation of a proper claim against the City of laur el for such earned premium. Th e motion carried. A bond in the amount of 10,000.00 for Wilbur B. Miggins, City Treasurer, executed by the United States Fide-, 'y and Gna ante Company of Baltimore, Maryland, for the period ending May 6, 19?35, was presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and secan.ded'by Dull ,that the bond be approved. The motion carried. The Street and Alley Committee reported reeommedning a gravel and cinder sidewalk` north of the ice house on Colorado Avenue, The Street and Alley Committee reported on the sign that had been requested by 'GQ 0. Larsog. After some 'discussion, it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Bray that he be permitted to erect a sign under contract, The motion carried.' It was moved by Vor4ahl and, seconded by Porter that the contract for gravel from Ed Wright and wife be put on record, The motion carried. It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn.
