Minutes of the City Council of Laurel

December 18, 1934
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and wa.s called to
order by Mayor R.. Broughton at `8:00 oT cloct P. I", Zu day ; ;December
38, 1934.
Upon Toll, call the following gldelmen answered present:

Vordahl ,
Reardon

'the minutes of December 4th were read and approved.
Mr. F. G. ScheidecLer was nominated by Mr. Law for
Alderman from the Second ward to fill the unexpired term of E. A.
Gum. Mr. Gehrett was nominated by . Bray as Alderman from the
Second ward to fill the unexpired term of E. A. Gunn. It was moved
by Law and seconded by Vordahl that F. C. Scheidecker be elected
to the office to fill the unexpired termof E. A. Gum. Upon roll
call Qidwell, Law, Vordahl and Conrad voted yes" and Bray, Reardon
and Ji&rtley voted "no". Thereupon the Mayor Aeelared F. C.
8cheide-cLer elected.
Mr. Harris appeared before the City Council in regard
to the F. D. I. C., regarding deposits in the Yellowstone Bank,
Dr. Broughton received a call and Vels Vordahl presid-
ed over the council, presiding during his abacense.
It was moved by Sidwell and seconded by-Law that the
question of surety be referred to the Finance Committee and the
City Attorney for report at the next meeting. The motion carried.
Mayor Broughton returned and presided during the
remainder of the meeting.
The Police Committee reported, recommending that the
city have three (3) policemen for the present and seventy-five
w dollars ($75.00), each, per month. It was moved by Hartley and
seconded by Law that the report of the Committee be accepted. The
motion carried,
An application to operate an apartment and rooms by
Mrs. P. J. Monahan was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl
and seconded by Biay that the liscense be granted and that the City
Treasurer be authorized to issue liscense. The motion carried.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried.
