Laurel, Montana,
October 2, 1934.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session
in the Goeneil Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by .
Mayor R. Broughton at 8;00 of clock P. M. Tuesday October 2, 1934.
Upon Qll call the following Aldermen answered present:

Bidwell
Law

The minutes of of September`l8th mere read and approved.
ThO report of the Chief' of Police for the month of September
was presented and read. It was monied by Vordahl and `,seconded by Gum
that the report be approved. The motion carried,
The `report of the Police judge for the- month of Septe-er. was
presented and read. It was moved by -Law'_and seconded by Bray that the
report be approved. The motion carried.
The report of the City Tre ;Lre.r for the month of September
was presented and read. it was.moved by Gum and seconded, by Bray that
the report be approved. The motion carried.
The report- of the Health officer for the month of September
was presented and read. It was moved by gordahl and seconded by Law that
the report be approved.. The motion carried.
An application for a building.permit by the Free Methodist
Chureh on lots ll and,-.12 Bloch 9 Tutting Subdivision, was presented and
read. It,-was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Bray that the application
be referred to the Aldermen from the Fourth hard and that their action be
binding on the City Council and that a permit be granted if they soy ordered.
The motion carried.
The bills for the month of September were referred to the Fin-
anee Committee and after due deliberation the Committee reported back ree
ommending the payment of the following bills:

It was moved by Conrad and seconded by Gum that the report of the
Committee be accepted and that warrants be issued in the manner rec-
ommended by the Committee. The motion carried.
Br, Broughton received a call and "returned before any fur-
ther business was transacted.
After some discussion of the work projects for the FER.A. it
was moved by Vordahl `and seconded by Conrad that the Mayor appoint a
committee to approve new,,and extensions of old,'projects. The motion
carried. Thereupon the Mayor appointed Bray, Law, Vordahl and Conrad. j

the City Treasurer be authorized to issue license . The motion carried.
After some discussion of the repair shop south of the Hurzler
Hotel it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that the City
Treasurer be instructsb yVto fJ'h carried.

A letter from the public Service Commission stating date of
hearing was presented and read. All aldermen were requested to attend
that is possible for them to get away and the 'Aldermen from Fourth ward
were requested to bring some of the Fourth Ward tam payers.
application by Mr. Carl Hurzler for a permit to build a
garage on his property in Block. 4, Laurel Realty Subdivision, was pre-
sented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that
his request be granted. The motion earried.
The Committee on Fire &; Police recommended that a contract
,for the storage of the fire truck be made with the S. 0. S, Garage-
daring the ensuing year. A contract identical with previous contracts ?
for storage was also presented. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded
by Reardon .that the report of the Committee be adopted and that the
Mayor and City Clem be authorized to sign the contract. The motion
?. carried.
After some discussion of County Poor it was moved by Vordahl
and seconded by Sidwell that the County Commissioners be advised of the
dissatisfaction with the manner in which the poor of
Laurel were being taken care of. The motion carried. -?
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The motion
carried.
