August 24, 1934.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in special
session for the purpose of discussing transient camp and was
called to order by Mayor R. Broughton at B-.00 o'clock P. M.

Upon roll call, the following 4dermen answered present;
Bray
Law
Vordah3
Reardon
Conrad
Hartley
The Mayor requested. qtr. Price to explain the transient
oemp program and Mr. Price stated that the Federal authorities had
decicled that the twenty acres of Plata land south of the Yellowstone
Rivei and east of Highway No, 310 was acceptable as a location for a
permanent transient camp to be established by the Federal Emergency
Relief Administration and that a group of citizens of Laurel and
vicinity tfauid acquire-<the property and donate it to the City of
' Laurel, if acceptable to the Council, under a contract for `deed,
which form was submttted for approval of the Council.
He also stated that a tract of land comprising five acres,
on which axe::,lbcatede°the tourists cabins and beer hall, could be
leased for five years with an option to pruchase the same if the city
was interested in the lease and option.
It was decided that the lease an option would not be handled
by the city but would be left up to the Committee of Citizens having {
the matter under consideration.
It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Vordahl that the
site be approved by the City Council and accepted as a gift to the
City. Upon roll call all Aldermen present voted aye.
It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Conrad that Frank
and Isaac Platz be given written permission by the Mayor and City
Clerk to remove from the twenty acres a pump, corral timbers, Isaac
Platz cabins, a granary and other out buildings.
11r. H. C. Hood, representing the Transient Camp Service,
stated that he would wire the Helena office immediately and get
final approval form his department.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
metion carried.
