The City Counail of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hail and was called to order by Mayor R. Broughton at 8;00 o'clock P. Tuesday August '7th, 1934. Upon roll, call the following Aldermen answered present; Bray Sid-well Gum Law gordahl Reardon Conrad The minutes of July 17th and 24th were read and approved. The report of the Chief of police for the month of July was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded bar Reardon that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Police Judge for the month of July was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Conrad that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Health officer for the month o f July was presented and read. It was moved by Conrad and second ed by Law that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the City Treasurer for the month o f Jule was presented and read. It was moved by Gum and seconded by Reardon that the report be approved. The motion carried. The bills for the month of July were referred to the Fin- ance Committee and,after due deliberation, the Committee reported back recommending the payment of the following bills; R. Power Go. 123000 It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by yaw.that the repor t of the committee' be accepted and that warrants be issued in the manner recommended by the Committee . August 7th, 1934, dont A reeeipted bill from Jack Bevens'to Bert Zherrow for sewer work was presented for discussion. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Gonrad that the Sewer Commissioner make further investigation and report at the next meeting. The motion carried. Qustadian's Receipt H. C198V executed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Helena, covering $15,000.00 of Liberty Loan Bonds] and Oustondiants Receipt No. G 164, executed by the _Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, covering 05,00.00 of Liberty Loan Bonds, held as security for depositD in the Midland National Bank of billings was presented for quarterly approval. It was moved by Sidwell and. seconded by Vordahl that the security be"approved, the motion carried. Four Custodian's Receipts, in the amount of x,5,000.00 each, issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, cover- i.ng' $20,000.00 `worth of Yellowstone Jounty Bonds held as security for deposits in the Yellowstone Bank was presented. and read. It was moved by Bray and seconded by Conrad that the security be approved. The motion carried: An offer by B. G. Shorey for approximately 400 feet of old water mains at five cents per 'foot `was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Conrad that his offer or any other for that amount be accepted. The motion carried. An application Ply J. 0. Bowen for license to operate a studio was presented and read. It was moved by Bray and seconded by Gum that the request be granted and that the City Treasurer by authorized to issue license. The motion carried. TheCity Treasurer requested instruction regarding ,dogs kept on premises of the 'owner. It was moved by wonrad and seconded by Bray that the ordinances relative thereto be enforced and that they be required to pay license. `t'he motion carried. The City Treasurer requested instruction on license for home laundry. It was moved by Law and seconded by ionrad that an ordinance be drafted exempting home laundries. The motion carried. Mr. Vordahl reported that Allis-Chalmers had a used road patrol that they had offered for '475.00. It was moved by Conrad and seconded by Bray that the patrol be purchased if proven satisfactory to the Street and .Alley'Gommittee. The Motion carried. The City Engineer was instructed to find a suitable rotary scraper and report at the next meeting. R. Broughton received 'a call and Nels Vordahl, President of the Council, too the chair" for, the remainder of the meeting. A copy of the financial report of the Laurel nark ,committee, which had been furnished heretofore to all donners to the park, was presented and read..
