The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the _Oouneil Chambers in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor R. Broughton at 8-.00 o'clock P. M. Tuesday July 3, 1934. Upon x011 call the following Aldermen answered present; Bray Lava Gum Vordahl Reardon Conrad The minutes of August 21st were read and approved. The report of the City Treasuxex for the month of dune L. Montana Power Go. 12 3.00 was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that the repo rt be ap proved. The motion carried. The report of the C ity Clerk for the month of June was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that the repo rt be ap proved. The motion carried. The report of the P olice Judge for the month of June was presented and rea d. It w as. moved by Law and seconded by Conrad that the repor t be app ro-ved. The motion carried. The report of the Health Officer for the month of June was presented and rea d. It w as moved by Bray and seconde d by Gum that the report be ap proved. The motion carried. The report of the C hief of Police for the month of dune was. presented and rea d. It w as moved by Law and seconded by Bray, that';:the report be ap proved. The motion carried. The bills f ox the m onth of June were referred t o the - in- ance Committee and af ter due deliberation the Coz=ittee reported back recommending the payment of the -following bills; R. Power Go. 77.50 - - ----- - - ------- Minutes of the City Council of Laurel -Laurel, Montana, July 3, 1934, Cont. it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Conrad that the report of the Finance Committee be adopted and that warrants be issued in the manner reoommended by the Committee,. The motion carried. Mrs. Harry Miller appeared before the City Council in regard to allowing her further time for payment of the water bill. it was moved by Law and seconded by Gum that she be given additional time. The motion carried. Mayor Broughton ,reported on his correspondence and convex- sation regarding the N. P. Park on Main Street and that 11r, ;Fee ap- peared for Mr. Driscoll, Division Superintendent, and stated they would care for it in the future. Tfayor Broughton reported on his negotiation with the State Relief Administra.tor and stated that his order to reject all muter bills had been rescinded. A report of the Mayor and Chief of Police on the Police Department in which they recommended an eight hour day for each full time police officer and two days off duty each calendar month, work- ing hours and days off to be aZranged by police officers and police committee, and that each officer have a phone in his residence and that he be subject to police call at any time whether on duty or not, without extra salary,as an offset for shorter hours. It was moved by Conrad and seconded.by Law that their report be approved. The motion carried. It was moved by Conrad and seconded by Gum that each of the three Policemen be furnished ten gallons of gasoline per month fox City driving.. The motion carried. A' contract submitted by the Mt. States Tel & Tel Co. for the operation of the lixen was agains presented and read. After some dis- cussion, it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by GuJ that the mayor and City; Clerk be authorized to sign contract. The motion carried. it was moved by Gum and seconded by Law that the Street Commissioner be instructed to notify property owners to cut any low hanging limbs over sidewalk which interferred with free use of sidewalk.
