Laurel, Montana,
June 5, 1954:
The City Council of the City Of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called
to order bar Mayor R. Broughton at 8:00 o clock P. M. iuesda?
June 5, 1934.
Upon roll call the following Aldermen answered present-.
Bray
Bidwell
Law
Gum
Vordah.l
Reardon
Conrad
Hartley
The minutes of Iday 15th were read' and approved.
Tr.. Hurzl.er and Mr. Hilgert appeared before the City
Council to `protest the opening of a wrecking house in their block
south of the Furzler Hotel, also complained of gas engine at-,-. the
Ice House-being noisy. It was monied by Vordahl and seconded by
Hartley that Mr. Schessler be notified. that complaints had come
to the City Council: about them operating engine without muffler
and ask them to correct it. The motion carried.
Mr. Harry lull, representing the ,;mer can legion, ap-
peared before the City Council and requested permission to put on
a carnival and that the City pass the license to them. It was
moored by Voxdahl and seconded by Reardon that the request be
granted. The motion carried.
Mr. Harlan appeared before the City Council in regard
to light on. 6outh First Avenue being moved further north. After
some discussion it was moved by gordahl and seconded by Conrad 1
that the matter -be referred to the 6treet and. alley Committee.
The motioncarried.
The City Treasnrex, s report for the month of Liay was
presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and 'seconded by
Conrad that the report be approved. The- motion carried.

The report of the Police judge for the month of Ikiay
was presented and read. It was moved by Hartley and seconded by i
Vgzdahl that the report be referred back to the Police Judge for i
explanation. The motion carried.
The report of the Chief of Police for the month of ,,,ay
was presented and read. It iva.s monied by Vordahl and seconded by
:bray that the report be approved. The motion carried.
An application by 11rs. V. J. Daniels- for license to
operate a hotel was presented.an:d read. It was moved by Vordahl
and seconded by Reardon that hex .request be granted-and that the
City Treasurer be auth6rized to issue license. The motion carried.
The Laills for the month of May were referred to the pin-
ance Committee and after due deliberation the ooiioittee reported
back recommending, the payment of the following bill-:

It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Ganxad that the repoxt
of the Committee be accepted and that warrants be issued in the
manner xecommnded by the Committee The motion caxxied.

been recelyed thereupon, it wds moved by Voxdahl and seconded
by Conrad that the ..y 5, 325.003 increase in the water fund budget
be approved. Upon `roll call, all Alaermen present voted aye an4
said budget was deelared approved.

the intersection of First Avenue and M4# Stree-t -it eras moved by
Hartley and seconded by Law that the Stet & Alley Committee
take up with the property o exs the question of "no patLing"
signs at their coiner. The motion "carried.
Mr. Gum reported that the sign at the Red & White Tourist
Camp obstructed the vier of the highway..
The Clerk was instructed to thank the men for tramming
the trees and other Work done in the park..
it was moved by Gum and seconded by Vordahl that we do
now adjourn. The motiQn caxxied.
