Laurel, Montana,
April 17, 1924.
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular
session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to
order by Vels Vordahl, President of the Council, at 8;00 o'clock
P.M. Tuesday April 17, 1934.
Upon roll call the following Aldermen answered present:

The minutes of April 3rd were" read and approved..
R. Broughton appeared and presided during the remainder
of the meeting;.
Mr, H. E. Diller appeared before the City Council in
regard to license for operating the old Yellowstone Hotel. It
was moved by Law and seconded by Vordahl that the license be
granted and that the City Treasurer be authorized to issue license.
The motion carried.
Mr. Craves appeared before the City Council in regard
to stook kept near the Fourth Ward School Building presumably awned
by Mr. Broadbent. The Clerk was instructed to notify the Health
Officer and. Chief of Police regarding it.
A bid by A. W. Grubs and H., Sell of ten cents for 425
feet of six inch water pipe was presented. After some discussion,
it was moved by Law and seconded by Vordahl that the bid be rejected.
The motion carried.
Louis Annest appeared before the City Council in regard
to water service. The City Officers were directed to prepare con-
tract and to turn on water for him.
An application for license by J. R. McETenney to operate
a photography shop was presented and read. Itwas moved.by Dull'
and seconded by Vordahl that his request be granted and the City
Treasurer authorized to issue license. The motion carried.
The City Treasurer's report for the month of March was
presented and read. It was moved by Chamberlin and seconded by
Reardon that the report be approved. The motion carried.
The Mayor reported that the Chairman of the ScbO-01 Board
had asked him to appoint a committee to meet- with them -ire X-egard
to the gasoline for the park.andbthereupon named named Conrad and
Vordahl to serve on that committee.
ORDINANCE NO. 327.
ordinance No. 327, being an ordinance relating to licensing
certain occupations was presented and read. After some discussion,
it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by pull that Ordinance No. 327
be provisionally passed. Upon roll call all Aldermen present voted
aye and said `ordinance was "declared provisionally passed.
RESOLUTION Na. 434
Resolution No. ZO,' being a resolnti:. 3evyi?ng,?:and; assess-
ing e. tag upon all property in-SQL Bide Water Mains 1923 to defray
the : aost:w. flf .{making imliro?ensi?in said district was presented and
read. It was moved by Voxdahl and seconded by Conrad that said resol-
ution be passed and adopted. Upon. roll call all Aldermen present;,,-
voted aye and said resolution was declared passed and adopted.
Estimate No. 1 and final for North Side water mains 1934
was presented and read. It was moved by gordahl and seconded by Bray
that the estimate be approved. The'motion carried.

Four Custodian's Receipts, in the amount of .$5,000.00
each, issued by the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, covering
$20,000.00 worth of Yellowstone County Bonds held as security for
deposits in the Yellowstone Bark was presented and read. It was
moved by Chamberlin and seconded by Dull that the security be
approved. The motion carried.
An application to construct a garage by Mrs. I.J. W. Smith
was presented and read. It was moved by Dull and seconded by
Reardon; that her-regaest,?.be granted. The motion carried.
An application by E. A. gum to construct a garage was
presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Law
that his request be granted. The motion carried.
The Mayor stated that Mr. Schwieger, representing the
Mountain States Construction Co. had stated that he would not be
willing to leave his crusher here unless the City would guarantee
to crush $500.00 worth of material per month. It was moved by Vor-
dahl and seconded by Dull `that. the crusher be released. The motion
carried.
At the request of C. w. Laird a resolution to the members
of Congress requesting a ,change in the long and short haul permitting
the Railway Company to compete with `Panama. Canal traffic was discuss-
ed. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Dull that such a resolu-
tion be forwarded to the Senators; and Representatives in Congress.
The motion carried. _
A bill in 'the amount of $25:.00 foz Genevieve Quigg, for
injuries sustained in a fall, was referred:-to.,the F=inance Committee.
After due deliberation the Committee reported back recommending the
payment of the bill. It was moved by Bray and seex)nded by Reardon
that the report of the committee be adopted and that a warrant be
iseued in the manner 'reeo mended by the Committee. The motion
carried.
It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The
motion carried.
