The City Council of the City of Laurel met in special session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall for the pur- pose of increasing the budget in the water department and street department and to consider °CWA matters and eras .called to order by Mayor R. Broughton at 8:00 o'clock P M. Tuesday January 23, 1934. Upon roll call the following Aldermen answered present: Bray Porter Law Chamberlin Vordahl Reardon Dull Conrad UTIQ . 4'7 Resolution Hsi. 427, being a resolution declaring an emergency exists requiring additional expenditures from the water fund and directing publication of notice of a public hear ing, was presented and 'read.. It was moved by Dull and seconded by Reardon that said resolution be passed and adapted. Upon roll call all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was decl€xed passed and adopted, RESOLUTION No. 428. Upon roll call all Aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was Adeclared passed aA4 adopted After some discussion of the gravel and wfter_ mains it was moved by 'Law and seconded: by mall that the graved crushing operations be reduced to one shift and that the men be placed on. water works. The motion carried. The fallowing bills were referred to the Finanqe Com- mittee and after due deliberation the committee reported baetc rec- ommending the payment as follows: Northern Pacific R.R.Co. $441,36 Pacific _states Past iron Co. 173'7.(6 The Mayor reported that the Boy Scouts had requested per- mission to use the fire siren. it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Hull that they be permi.ted to use it. The motion carried. The contract. between the City of Laurel and the ountain. ? States Company for the crushing of"graavel was presented and 'read. It was moved by Vorda hl and seconded by Reardon that the contract be approved. The motion carried. After some discussion regarding lioense on liquor, ei.g arettes, ete. "the Finance Committee and the City Attorney were in- structed to prepare new ordinances. It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn.. The motion carried. Or. ATTEST: C er
