Laurel, Montana, December ly, 1955
The City Council of the City of Laa.rel, met in regular
session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, and was called
to Order by the President ofY:the *co ncil Nels Vord.ahl at 7-30
o'clock ' P. M. December 17th 1935.
Ripon Roll Call the following aldermen answered present.
Sidwell
Hartley
Bray
Conrad
Smith
Law
Dr. Broughton appeared and presided dosing the remainder' of
the meeting,
H. F. Johnson appeared before the Council regarding a permit
for a trailer house on back of property where he resides at First ,street
and Fourth .venue: He said if the Council would permit the trailer house
to be placed there, that people occupying it could use his toilet facilities
and city grater and he would pay an extra water service. As it was against
the city Ordinances to allow trailer houses anywhere but in Tourist parks
it was moved-by Law and seconded' by Brag that the permit he denied. The
motion carried,
W. 0. Baker appeared before the Council regarding his permit
to build garage and repair shop on his property on West Main Street. He
said if permit was granted he would stucco outside of building and build
according to city specifications:. After some 'discussion the matter was
referred to the same committee who was investigating the matter and the
City Engineer.
A. F, Speekeen asked for permit tp build a garage on lots 11
and 12 block ld Laurel Heights to cost approximately 0150.00. It was
moved by Vordahl and seconded by onrad that the permit be granted. The
motion carried.
Mrs. S. M. Thornton asked: dor a permit to move a house 16 by 34,
frame, plastered and shingled roof, on lot if Block 20, Laurel Realty
Subdivision., -House'to.'be made modern with rock foundation, small basement,
to cost around $800.00. It was moved by Low and seconded by Vordahl that
the permit be granted. The motion carried,
The matter of cleaning alloys in Garbage District No. 1 was
discussed.' It `'was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Smith that the alleys
be cleaned once a week. The motion carried,
A note of thanks for flowers was read from the lim Reardon fami7$.
The report of the City Clerk for November was presented and read.
It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Bid-well that the-report be approved.
ThLe motion carried,
Conrad reported for Park Commi:ttde-nregard .ng complaint by
Frank Platz that trees had been outat Transient Camp. They ]promised
not to out.anymore trees without first asking permission. it was
reported that the National Park Service had taken over the transient
Camp.
The City Engineer was requested to report on any projects not
started. He reported that the sewer project had been approved, and that
the P. W. A. water project 'im- being held up for farther information.
It was moved by .Hartley anal seconded by Vordahl that we do
now adjourn. The motion carried.
