City Co i Laurel, , ntana; September 4, 1955 The City .Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, met in regular session in. the Council Chambers in the City Hall, and was called to order by Sela Vordahl, President of the Council at 8 00 o" cloak 11. M. September 3rd, 1935, Upon hall Gall the following aldermen answered present Vordahl Smith Bray Reardon Sidwell Law The minutes of ugust lath and August' 30th were read and approved.. Mr,, A. B. Bartholf appeared before the Council asking for per- mission to erect a frame garage 18 by 36 oonstrueted .from two box cars; concrete foundation; stucco outside,- new roof to cost approximately 500*00 It was moved by Law and seconded by Reardon tat his request be granted, provided it was constructed to conform with City Speoifieations. The motion carried. Br. Broughton arrived and presided during the remainder of the meeting. r. G. W. Gibson appeared before the Council relati a o -a license for his wife as a media and fortune Teller,, Be. stated they wished to rest de here and would pay reasonable license. After some, discussion regarding pr o of license it was moved by Vord'ahl and seconded. by Bray that the eyor appoint a Committee to act regarding a reasonable license. The motion carried, The mayor appointed Bray, Vordahl and :Reardon to act on this Committee.. rsr C. L. Morris and Mrs. 0. . 'W'al.d .of the Zibrary heard appeared before the- auncil. relative to sending in W. P. A. Proaeet for additi©a to Public Library. They asked permission. to use the balance of 525:Qa to purchase Materials '.for the addition, provided the Pro j eat was approved. it`was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that the Project Na. 7 an addition to the Library be approvedi and the Mayor and City Clerk enter into an agreement with the Works Progress Administration; the motion carried; Mx. E.. 8. Sabin appeared before the Council and asked to have the water turned on at his place' 617 Juniper Avenue,, The Mayor ,referred the - matter to -the Water and Sewer Committee and the City eater commissioner,: The report of the Police Judge for the;month of August was _ presented and read, It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Smith that the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Chief of Police for the month of August was presented and read.._ After some discussion it was moved by Vord.ahl:and seconded by Bidwell that the report' be approved., The motion earried. After some discussion it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Smith that the Police Committee investigate why Police Officer on duty; at 2 A. M. August 29th could not be located. " The motion: carried. The report of the City Clerk for the month of August was presented and read. T It was moved by Smith and seconded by raw that the -apart be approved,' The motion carried, The bills for the month of August were referred to the 2inance Committee, and after due deliberation the committee reported back re- commending the paymentof the following bills R.
