M. June 18th, 19350 Upon Roll gall the following Aldermen answered present, Vo.rdahl eonrad Smi t h Reardon La The minutes of Jane 4th and dune llt'h were read and approved. Mr. "Reardon, Cashman. of the Finance Committee, reported that Lots 14 and 15 in Bloch 9 would be sold for. 475.00 each if the Thorntons wanted to buy. Dr,. Broughton reported that F. M. Quinn had asked to bQ relieved of his duties as Police Officer and he appointed G. W. Hirschfelt_ to tale his place. A motion was made by Vordahl ?d seconded by Smith that the resignation of Quinn be accepted and appointment of Hirschfelt be approved. The Motion carried. Dx. Broughton reported that he had appointed the following men to act as Transient Police without compensation; Wm., Starr, dcV' Fontana, Carl Kopp, Jake Bietz,- Ray Gordon, Gale Sherwood, A motion was made by Smith and seconded by Vordahl that the appointments be approved. The cation carried. Dr. Broughton also reported that Ghas, C1_ar_lthad been to see him about irrigation on his property at 515 Washington A-v After some discussion a motion was -made by Vorddhl and seconded by Reardon that his irrigation' charge be waived. The motion carried. , Mr. W. G. Baler appeared before the q b 1 and asked- permission 'to move two four room hour 24. feet. square= ail and plastered, from the country on to Lots 7, 8, 9 and 10, Block 4, East Laurel Subdivial n. A .otion was made _ by Conrad and seconded by Reardon that the pemit-;be---gran: ed4,1-- The motion carried. Rowland Morrow appeared before the Council and asked per- mission to move a house 10 by 26 made out of box car, painted and sealed, on to lots 19 and 20, Block-:21 East Laurel. A motion was made by Conrad and seconded by Smith that the matter be referred to the Street::and Alley Committee. The motion carried. An application by H. Waage fora permit to build a concrete sidewalk on the East side of Lot 1,Block 23, Laurel Realty Subdivision, was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Law, that the permit be granted. The motion carried. An application by Jerome C. Boespflug to use bog car on. Central School grounds for a toolhouse during the construction of building with the understanding that box car will be remotred when building is completed# was presented and read. It was moved by Law and seconded by Conrad that the permit be granted. The motion carried. ? An application by P. A. Johnston to build a modern dwelling { 36 by 40 on Lots 18, 19 and 20, Block 12, Laurel Heights Subdivision, to cost about $3500.00, was presented and read. A motion was made by Vordah2 and seconded by Reardon that the permit be granted. The motion carried. 28 C. C. C. boys from Carbon County appeared before the Council asking the release of their Captain who had been arrested for assaulting Wayne Willis, Pelice.Officer in front of Picture Show. After some discussion the matter of his`relEase was referred to Wayne Willis, who also appeared before the Council. Upon his consent a motion was made by Vordahl and seconded by Law, that the Captain be released at train time and escorted to the train by Police Officer. The motion carried. Mrs. Mary Preikszas appeared before the Council with a complaint that. stray dogs had ruined her flowers and garden and asked Minutes of the City Council of Laurel r Laurel, ontana, June 18, 1935 that the owners of dogs be compelled to keep dogs at home. After some discussion ing to dogs, Dr. Broughton said he would take and reading of Ordinance pertai?partment, the matter up with, the Police ORDINANCE NO, 337. Ordinance No. 337, being an ordinance amending Section 250 of Article 2 of Chapter 8 of Ordinance o. 228, being the Revised Ordin ces of the City of Laurel, Montana. relating to application for a permit for construction, altering buildings or moving any structure within the City limits, was presented and read. it was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that said ordinance No. 337 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call Vordahl, Conrad, Smith, Reardon, and Law voted-,age. Thereupon the Mayor declared Ordinance 30. 337 passed on its first reading. 4 RDINAN CE NO. 338 Ordinance-Iro. 338, being an ordinance repealing' Section 256 of Article 2 of Chapter 8of Ordinance No 228,being the revised ordinances of the City of Laurel, relating to fees for. lot line surveys by the City Engineer, was presented and read. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Conrad that said ordinance No. 338 be passed and adopted. upon roll call Vordahl, Conrad Smith, Reardon and Law voted Aye, Thereupon the Mayor declared Ordinance No. 338 passed on its. first reading. QRDINANCE NQ.. 339. Ordinance go. 3399 ; being an ordinance amending Section 241 of, Article 1 of Chapter 7, of Ordinance' 228, being the revised ordinances of the City of Laurel was presented and read.. It was moved by yordahl and seconded by Law that said ordinance -To 339 be passed and adopted. Upon roll call Nordahl, Conrad, Smith, Reardon and law voted Aye. Thereupon the Mayer declared Ordinance No. 338 passed on its first reading. A -request was read from A. W. Armstrong and Ed Jones asking the Council to set a price on old water tank owned by City and used for hauling water. .A' motion was made by Vordahl and seconded by Smith that the price be set at $20.00 cash.' The motion carried., Dr. Broughton reported' that Elroy Westbrook wanted to buy old horse trough f©r a relic of early days of Laurel. After some o_iscussion it was decided to keep it here as relic. The matter -,of electing alderman for' second ward to take the place of F. C. Scheidecker, resigned, 'was up'for discussion. Mr. law reported that he had been unable to find a man who would accept the office if elected. It was moved by Reardon and seconded by Smith that the-matter be held over two weeks and that the Mayor help 11r, Law pick out a man, the motion carried, It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Reardon that we do now adjourn.
