Minutes of the City Council of Laurel Laurel, Montana, February, 5, `1935, The City C ouncil of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Counc il Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by Mayor R. Br oughton at 8;00 0Tel©ek P. 11. Tuesday, Feb. 5 1935. Upon roll call the following Aldermen answered' present. Brag Sidwell Law Scheidecker Vardahl Reardon gartl ey Conrad The minute s of January 35th were read and approved. The report of the Health officer for the month of Jan- nary was presented a nd, read. It was moved by Hartley and see- onded by Conrad that the report be "approve4 _-The motion c arried. The report of the Police judge for the month of January was presented and ze ad.. it was moved by Law and seconded ` by Hartley that the rep ort be approved. - The motion carried. ` After some discussion of Police matters it .was ' moved by Conrad and seconded by Scheidecker that`the.,ayor designate One of the policeman as Chief from month to mon.tt. Upon roll call all aldermen voted aye except vo-rdahl who voted no. Ther eupon the Mayor' declared the motion, passed. The bills for the month of January were referre d to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation the Committe e report- ed back recommending the payment of the following bills;, R. The motion carried; It was moved by Hartley and seconded by Conrad that the bill of the a. O. S. Garage for storage_ of the fire truck be re- ferred to the Committee on Fire & Police. The motion carried. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Law that the Fire & Police Committee make arrangements for the storage of the fire trust. The motion carried.. After some diseussion of keys for the jail it was moved by Hartley and seconded by Vordahl that the matter be referred to. the Committee on Fire & Police. The motion carried. A petition signed by a number of citizens` of laurel re- `guesting en ordinan ce for the control of appliances 'which interfere with the radio reception was presented and read. it was moved by Law and seconded by Hartley ,that the matter be deferred for further study. The motion carried. The report of the State Examiner for the Firemens Relief Association was presented and read. It was moved by, Hartley and seconded by Reardon that the Clerk be instructed to :get prices on E©Q feet of fire hose, with and without couplers, also prices on an>expand ex. The motion carried. The Oaty Attorney presented a form of lease required by the Federal Transient Service' relative, to the five-acre 'tratict of land at the Txansient Zaz4p and asked permission to draw one with a few minor changes to it''. It was moved by Vordah3 and seconded by Conrad that the request be-:.granted , The', motion carried. After some discussion of the new set up for the FEpA it was moved by ordahl and seconded by Law that a omm ttee from the City Council and. Planning Board meet Thxusday night, Feb. 8th, to pass =new projects. The 'motion carried. The mayor stated that " the Committee would be oomposed of all those than would_ be able to attend the meeting. The projects suggested were w64Xv_n pipe; water filtrater; sidewalks; sewer; library addition; city jail; city hall; incinerators, "etc. An e Brow agreement between the City of Laurel and S D. Gnann was presented sad read. It was moved by Voxdahl and seconded by Conrad that the contract be approved.. Upon roll call all Alder- men present 'Voted aye and the Mayor, declared the motion passed. After some discussion of Board: for prisoners it was moved by Hartley and seconded by Reardon that the Mayor be authorized to make arrangements 'With "Sheriff Boley for the feed of prisoners not to exceed seventy-f'i've cents per day. The motion carried. The City Treasurer and Water Commissioner were -requested to fide delinquent repox-te of license and water Yr, Price stated that r. Harlan had. made the proposition that the Light ng District o. 2 part of delinquent tax on his prop- erty which was purchased from the Connty be remitted. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by.
