December 1, 1936
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session
in the Council Chamber and was called to order by Tvlayox Broughton at
7:30 of clock 11. d. December 1, 1936.
Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present:
Thomson
L. L. bmith
Conrad
Wooters
Bray
Eeardon
Law
she minutes of ;'vovember 17th were read and approved.
The report of the Chief of Police for the month of November
was presented and read. It was moved by Conrad and seconded by Thomson
the report be approved. The motion carried.
she report of the -,'lice Judge for the month of November was
presented and read. it was moved by Law and seconded by xeardon the
report be approved. The motion carried.
The Police judge appeared before the council in regards to
complaints and trouble with dogs without licenses on the south side.
It was moved by uonrad and seconded by L. L. ,jmith the matter be referred
to the Police Committee and brought to the attention of the City Treasurer
with the view of the policemen canvasir_g that part of town for unlicensed
dogs. The motion carfied.
The Police Judge also presented the matter of speeding within
the city limits.

of the meeting.
The report of the water Commissioner for the Month of November
was presented and read. It was moved by :Thomson and seconded by 1. t?.
Smith the report be approved. The motion carried.
The report of the city Treasurer for the month of November was
presented and read. it was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Keardon
the report be approved. The motion carried.
The report of the city clerk for the month of i ovember was
presented and read. It was moved by Conrad and seconded by L. L. Smith
the report be approved. The motion carried.
The bills for the month of November were referred to the Finance
Committee and after due deliberation the Committee reported back recommend-
ing the payment of the following bills:

seconded by Conrad the report of the 'inance Committee
issued in the manner recommended by the committee.
03DIDAD'02 NO. 344
Ordinance No. 344, being an ordinance revising and amending Ordinance
Ito. 79 of the 't'own of Laurel, Fontana and defining a lot and the unit of
assessment in unplatted areas was presented and xead fox final passage and
approval. It was moved by Oonrad and seconded by Thomson, ordinance lo. 344
be finally passed and adopted. Upon roll call all aldermen present voted aye
and said ordinance was declared finally passed and ado-?ted.
An application for a permit with thixty-one signatures to erect
.1mas trees on the edge of sidewal6c and along gutter on the east and west side
of First Avenue between Main Street and vixst Street and on Main street between
Second Avenue and Iaiontana Avenue was presented and xead. It was moved by Law
and seconded by Conrad the permit be granted. The motion carried.
Mayor Broughton presented the matter of kirs. E. P. Palmer, w.P.A.
Recreational ,bupervisor, wanting permission to erect a Amas tree in the city E.P.
Paxt,- and city pay the expense of execting same which would be approximately
425.00. It was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Conrad permission be
denied. The motion carried.
The Mayor also presented the matter of the IYiethodist church wanting
to buy the fire bell in the City Hall. After discussion it was moved by
L. L. Smith and seconded by Thomson the matter be referred to the 4,ire
Committee to report at the next meeting. The motion carried.
An application for a permit by Sawyer Stores, Inc. to erect a neon
sign on the front of the building over the sidewalk at 215 Tiest Main Street
was presented and read. It was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Reardon
the permit be granted and the sign erected according to city specifications.
The motion carried.
A letter was read from the Montana municipal League inviting delegates
to a meeting in Helena on December 10, 1936. It was moved by L. L. Smith and
seconded by Eeardon the Mayor be nominated as a delegate. It was moved by
Lava and seconded by heardon the motion,be amended to include the City b.ngineer
and City Attorney. It was moved by Conrad and seconded by vvooters the motion
be amended to include the expenses of the delegates.
The motion carried.
The City Engineer reported the approval of the project fox logs fox
twenty cabins at riverside Pax.. The matter of sanitation of the cabins was
discussed. It was decided that the committee to the jgiontana miunicipal League
meeting would discuss the sanitary conditions with the State Board of Health
while at Helena.

:police problems were discussed and an application for a position
in the Police Department from E. Td. Kacera was presented and read.
it was moved by Oonrad and seconded by Eeardon that 'we do now
adjourn. The motion carried.
