HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Council Minutes 11.03.1936Minutes of the City Council of Laurel November 3, 1936 The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the Council Chamber in the City Hall and was called to order by LIT. Conrad, President of the Council at 7;30 o'clock P. m. November 3, 1936. Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present; L. L. Smith Bray Thomson I. N. Smith Wooters Law The minutes of October 20th were read and approved. The report of the Chief of Police for the month of October was presented and read. It was moved by Law and seconded by L. L. Smith the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Police Judge for the month of October was presented and read. It was moved by Thomson and seconded by L. L. Smith the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the City Treasurer for the month of October was presented and read. It was moved by Thomson and seconded by bray the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the City Clerk for the month of October was presented and read. It was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Thomson the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Health Officer for the month of October was presented and read. It was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Bray the report be approved. The motion carried. .ihe bills for the month of October were referred to the Finance Committee and after due deliberation the Committee reported back recommending the payment of the following bills; R. The motion carried. After discussion it was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by j3ray a letter be written to the State Highway Commission regarding traffic signs at the underpass and acting for their co-operation with the Police Depart- ment in mating some arrangements. The motion carried. RESOLUTION 140. 467 Resolution No. 467, Being a resolution transferring certain funds of the City of Laurel from the General Fund to the Garbage No. 1 Fund and Garbage No. 2 Fand.was.:presented"and 'read. It was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Wooters Resolution No. 467 be passed and approved. Upon roll call all aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was declared passed and approved. Mr. & Mrs. S. M. Thornton appeared before the Council in regards to connecting t,o water main to service houses on their property south of the mill on Railroad Street. After discussion it was moved by Thomson and seconded by Bray the matter be referred to the 'dater Committee for investigation and report at the next meeting. The motion carried. The Thornton's also inquired about the amount of assessment for tapping water main for the sawmill. It was moved by Bray and seconded by I. N. Smith the matter be referred to the 'eater Committee for investigation along with the other matter. The motion carried. After some discussion of garbage in ;district No. 1, the matter was left with the Fire & Police committee. The City Engineer reported that permission had been received from the State Highway commission to start construction of the east end drain. It was moved by Lava and seconded by I. E.
