Conrad, President of the Council, at 7;30 o'clock P. m. October 20, 1936. Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present; Thomson Bray L. L. Smith woofers Reardon I. Ti . 6mi t h Law The minutes of October 6th were read and approved. The report of the police judge for the month of September was presented and read. It was moved by Law and seconded by Reardon the report be approved. The motion carried. An application for a permit by L. L. Smith to build an addition to his house at 310 Fifth Avenue, size 6x16, cement foundation, frame, painted and shingled and to cost approximately §350.00, was presented and read. It was moved by Keardon and seconded by wooters the permit be granted. The motion carried. It was moved by iieardon and seconded by L. L. Smith a new contract be drawn up for the storage of the fire truck at the Vew Deal Garage. The motion carried. After discussion as to the loss of equipment from the fire truck, it was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Thomson the matter be referred to the Fire & Police Committee for investigation with authority to act. The motion carried. Isar. L. L. Smith presented the matter of building a partition in the pump house to save on fuel which would cost approxima#ely $30.00. It was moved by tvlooters and seconded by I. N. Smith the matter be referred to the dater Committee with authority to act. The motion carried. The Plater Committee reported that they had taken the contract from Mr. Brohaugh for installing the pump at $95.00 instead of $85.00. Mayor Broughton arrived and presided during the remainder of the meeting. After discussion of drainage at the east end and prices on culverts, It was moved by Conrad and seconded by L. L. Smith an order for culverts from the Hardesty.11anufacturing Company be approved. Upon roll call all aldermen present voted aye and the motion was declared passed. The City Engineer was instructed to request the completion of improvements on the City Hall. The City Engineer aise reported that the Commercial Club had offered to pay 450.00 on the purchase of two acres of land from Mrs. Jackson. The City Engineer presented the matter of making a test on an island above the pump house for a. new water intake, building a keeper's house at the reservoir and wave wall at settling basin. It was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Conrad application be made to W.P.A. for a project to include testing the island, building house at reservoir and wave wall at settling basin. The motion carried. Mr. C. A. Duncan, Fire Chief, appeared before the council in regards to a fire hazard back of the theatre caused from burftigg garbage. After discussion it was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Law the matter be referred to the Fire & Police Committee for investigation with authority to act. The motion carried. After discussion on the matter of rent for buildings at Riverside- Park, it was decided to wait until a later date to make arrangements. Smit h a notice be published in the paper that the City had nothing to do with the barbecue at riverside Barb. Upon roll call all aldermen present voted no except Bray and L. L. Smith who voted yes and the motion was declared lost. It was moved by Conrad and seconded by Reardon that we do now adjourn. The motion carried.
