August 4, 1936
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in regular session in the
Council Chambers in the City Hall and was called to order by ,;layor _Broughton
at 7:30 o ? c_lo c lr 1. 11. :august 4th, 19b6.
Upon roll call the following aldermen answered presents

.he minutes of July 21st were read and approved.
The report of the Health officer for the month of July was presented
and read. It was moved by raw and seconded by Reardon the report be
approved. The notion carried.
The report of the Chief of :?olice for the month of July was presented
and read. It was move by L. L. Smith and seconded by Law the report be
approved. The motion carried.
The report of the police Judge for the month of July was presented
and read. It was moved by Taw and seconded by Thomson the report be
approved. The motion carried.
The report of the City TIxeasurex for the month of July tuas presented
and read. It was moved by L. L. Smith and seco-rided by Reardon the report
be approved. The motion carried.

It was moved by Conrad and seconded by Thomson that the report,
of the Finance Committee be adopted and warrants be issued in the manner
recommended by the Committee. The motion carried.
A letter was read from the City Treasurer asking for authority to
release Bond No. 1 of the 1936 Refunding issue and its coupon in the
amount of x¢1020.00 held by the Yellowstone Bank for security on City
deposits. It was moved by Law and seconded by L. L. Smith the City
Treasurer be granted authority to release said bond.. Upon roll call all
aldermen present voted aye and the motion was declared passed.
messers. Nels Vordahl, John Goyer, H. J. Newton, Harry Dull, Fred
Feurbacher and Geo. L. Frank appeared before the Council protesting the
budget. Messers. Theo. W. Johnson, Wm. Sidwell and. Fred Hilgert were
heard in favor of the budget.
Mrs. C. L. Dorris and Mrs. 0. M. wold appeared before the Council
in regards to the budget for the addition to the City Library.
The City Attorney stated that the Riverside Park had been abondon.ed
by w. P. A, and was ready to be turned to the City of Laurel. He also
stated that there was a debt of $2000,00 on the five acres fronting the
highway and the donors asked the City Council to take over this
obligation in accepting the Park. essers. MaeDonald,'Sande, Johnston,
Sherrow and Morris appeared before the Council in regards to the Park.
After discussion the contract for deed from.Issac Platz and prank P. Platz
et ux to the five acres was presented and read.,; It was moved by Conrad
and seconded by Bray the contract for deed for Raid five acres be accepted.
Upon roll call all aldermen present voted aye and the motion was declared
passed.
The matter of insurance on the buildings at Riverside Park was
discussed. The Mayor instructed the Park Committee to investigate" the
matter and report at the next meeting.
Mr. Ivan Lyons appeared before the Council making application for
a beer license and asked that the license be reduced one-half as more
than half of the year was past. After discussion it was moved by
L. L., Smith and seconded by Law the request be denied. Upon roll call
all aldermen present voted aye, except Bray who voted no and Reardon
not voting. The motion was declared passed.
The City Engineer presented the matter of employing a watchman
for Riverside Park. It was moved by L. L. Smith and seconded by Law
the matter be referred to the Park Committee with authority to employ
a watchman until other arrangements could be made. The motion carried.

It was moved and seconded that we do now adjourn. The motion
