May 14, 1936
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in Special
session in the Council Chambers in the City Hall, May 14th, 1936, and
was called to order by Mayor Broughton at 7-.30 o'clock P. to act
on protest on file, pertaining to the qualification of I. N. Smith as
Alderman from the Third Ward.
Upon Roll 0811 the following Aldermen answered present:
Conrad
Thomson
L. L. Smith
NooteTs
Bray
1. 14. Smit h
Reardon
Law
The Clerk read the call, of the meeting.
It was requested that.the protest be re-read.
After some discussion, it was moved by Lave and seconded-
by L. L. Smith that the Mayor appoint a committee of five to investigate
the qualifications of I. N. Smith as Alderman from the Third Ward and
report at the next meeting, also confer with Mr.: Price, City Attorney
and inquire into the power of the council. The motion carried.
The Mayor appointed L. L. Smith, Conrad, footers, B'ray,,
and Reardon as committee on investigation of I. N. Smith, Alderman from
the Third Ward.
It was moved by Conrad and seconded by Reardon that we
do now adjourn. The motion carfied.
