Broughton at 7,36 olclock P. M. April 13th, 1936, Upon Boll Call -ttho. fella g aldermen answered present, Vordahl Bidwell Smith Conrad Brae Reardon Lax The Mayor stated that the purpose of the meeting was to canvass the election returns of April 6th, and thereupon appointed as tellers Conrad, Smite and Reardon, After reviewing the returns, the oommi tteo reported back the fell-Aving votes Wm. Smith 1.Alderman Third Ward 68 Peter Thomson Alderman Fourth Ward 41 Ira Rodgers -Alderman Fourth Ward 12 It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Law that the report of the Committee be adopted. _ The motion carried. It.was moved by PQnrad and seconded by Reardon that the following aldermen be declared elected. 0. J. Waoters Alderman First Ward B G. Bray; Alderman Second Ward Smith Alderman Third Ward Peter Thomson Alderman .Fourth Ward Upon Bell Call=. all aldermen present voted Aye, and the motion carried.. The Street and Alley Qonenittee reported regarding the application of the Harris ail dempany for permits to erect oil, tanks on Lot 10 in Block 4 Laurel Realty Subdivision, ' in laurel as follows:IR The Street and Alley Committee 'does not--recommend to the Council the granting this request for a: bulk station, because of its inflammable contents exposed neighboring dwelling houses and frame baild fga'near by. It would alsd establish a precedent and likely to lead to other similar applications,#w It was moved by Conrad and seconded by Bray that the report of the Street and. Alley Committee be approved. Upon Roll Call all aldermen present voted Faye with the exception of Sidwell who did not vote, The motion carried, Mr, S. 0. Harris and Mr Joe -Nicholas appeared before the Council and asked for permit for Harris oil Company to install one 1000 gallon gas- olive tank in front of Lot,,--10--in Bloc 4, Lan el Realty Subdivision, tank to be outside of bft sidewalk. It' was moved by Vordahl 'Wand seconded by Reardon that t-he - request be granted, The motion carried, The Harris Oil Company also asked for permit to place three,1000 gallon tanks on back of lot 14 zn Bloc, I,sure Realty Subdivision- for gasoline and tractor fuel. it was moved` by yordahl se,cande.d by Gdnrad that the permit be granted for underground tanks with inside pump and inside - j Minutes of the City Council of Laurel April 13, 19566 delivery. Upon Roll Call Vordahl, Sidwell and Conrad voted Aye and Smith, Bray and Lair voted No, Reardon did not vote. 12be motion Was lost. Pete Lehr asked for a permit to move a frame garage 12 by 16 from farm one mile-west of town to the E. V. Wallace property on 517 Wyoming Avenue. Garage to be painted. It was moved by Law and seconded by Smith that the permit be granted. The motion carried. Chas. Fahy asked for a permit to build an 8 ft porch on to the front of his house and to enlarge the porch on the back of his house at 502 Fourth Avenue, Both porches to be painted on the outside, Approx- imate cost 100.00* The motion carried. The Harris oil Company asked permission to erect two overhead tanks on the N. P. Right of Way, South of N. P. Main Line, west side of Fifth Avenue and north side of Railroad Street,. approximately lOQO gad: each approximate cost 1000, subject to Railroad permit, It was moved by yaw and seconded by Smith that the permit be granted. The motion carried, Mr. P. A. John n appeared before the Council scat&ng that he and C. W. Laird had bought some tax title lots that had some back City Im-pvoVe- ment taxes against them, and asked the City to waive the Improvement baek>i _ taxes and they would improve the lots by building houses on them. After some discussion it was moved by Conrad and seconded by Bray that the matter be left in the handsof the Finance Committee and the`City Attorney, and that the.Committee report back to Council at next meeting, The motion carried, C. W. Laird asked for a permit to botatruct a frame dwelling 26 by 40, modern,with seder and water connections, on the corner of Fourth Avenue and Third Streets. Approximate cost to be $2000, this to include garage.. It was moved by Vordahl and seconded by Brag that the permit be granted, The motion carried, Mr. P. A. Johnston appeared before the Council regarding Parking Station on the south side of Main Street between the City Park and the" Johnston Lumber Pompany. Mr., Johnston presented a blue print of plans, After some discussion, a motion was.made by Conrad and seconded by Smith that the City Council support the project and leave the matter in the hands of the Street and Alleys Commi.ttee to contact the State Highway Commission and the Northern. Pacific Railway Company, The motion carried. Mr. John Moran appeared before the Council regarding the placing of incinerators to take care of rubbish and garbage thrown out back of theatre, No action was taken, It was moved by Smith and seconded by Reardon that we do now adjourn.
