Decemi:Der 7, 1937. Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present: Conrad Geo. H. Smith Scoarse Thomson Vlooters Dr. Smith Gomer Law The minutes of November 16th were read and approved. TJir. . 1C. A. Duncan, J. L. Tubman and firemen, appeared before the Council, in truck. After discussion it was moved by light be placed on the front of the city After further discussion it was moved by matter be referred to the Fire Committee carried. ?. B. Packard, representing the regards to the handling of the fire Wooters and seconded by Scoarse a machine shed. The motion carried. Thomson and seconded by Gorner the with authority to act. The -motion Mr. Rockwood Brown, representing r'. E. Jacobson and other taxpayers, appeared before the Council and entered_ a protest against the spending of money and furtl-erinF-, plans for a tourist camp at Riverside Park. After discussion it was moved by Law and seconded by '-Hooters the matter be referred to the City Attorney for a report back to the City Council. The motion carried. The report of the Police officers for the month of November was presented and read. It was moved by Law and seconded by Dr. Smith the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Police Judge for the month of November was presented and read. It was -moved by Law and seconded by Thomson the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the City Treasurer for the month of November was presented and read. It was moved by Thomson and seconded by Scoarse the report be approved. The motion carri ed. The report of the City Water Dept . for the month of November was presented and read. It was moved by Thomson and seconded by Scoarse the report be approved. The motion carri ed. The report of the City Clerk for the month of 1Tovernber was presented and read. It was moved by Law and seconde d by Thomson the report be approved. The motion carried. it was moved by Conrad and seconded by 'Hooters the- City C]Lerk be instructed to deduct 2% discount from the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Co.'s claim in issuing the warrant. The motion carried. An application for a permit by C. C. Hurzler to convert a back porch into a room at the 'r urzler Hotel, was presented and read. It was moved by Law and seconded by Thomson the permit be granted. The motion carried. An application for a per-r.,.it by Fred Baumgartner to move building 12x16 from outside city, limits to Lot 6, Block 6, Last Laurel, to remodel for garage, was presented and read. It was moved by Law and seconded by Geo. Smith the permit be granted. The motion carried. An application for a perrni.t by Mrs. Anaalia Giefle to more building size 24x44 fLom outside city limits to Lot 11, Block 23, Laurel Realty Subdivision, and remodel into a modern dwelling was presented_ and read. It was moved by Thomson and seconded by Law the permit be granted. The motion carried. An application for a permit by P,rlrs. F:. E. Smith to erect a stucco garage size 20x15, Lot 18, Block 1, Laurel Realty Subdivision, was presented and read. It was moved by Goner and seconded by Scoarse the permit be granted. The motion carried. A letter from Henderson &, 1 cClellan, of the Hi-'1'day Apts. , in regards to placing another street light on Main St. between Smith's Vulcanizing Shop and the Hi-ZTvTay Apts. was presented and read. No action was taken. An unsigned letter was read regarding a skating rink_ at the football 'field. The City Engineer was instructed to remove the surplus dirt on First Avenue between T, air; St. and First St. Law presented the matter of putting; in sidewalk on the south side of First Street from Iontana Avenue and 2nd Street. Vo action was taken.
