October 26, 1937
The City Council of the City of Laurel met in special session in
the Council Chambers to consider bids on water pipe and fittings and
other matters, and was called to order by Mayor Broughton at 7:30
o'clock P. October 26, 1937.
Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present:
Geo. H. Smith
Scoarse
Thomson
Vvlooters
Dr. I. N. Smith
Conrad
Law
The City Clerk read the call of the meeting.
Mr. W. M. Baker appeared before the council in regards to hauling
gravel for approximately $1.75 per hour or $14.00 per day and the city
furnish gasoline and oil, or a guarantee if hauled by the yard. After
discussion it was moved by Wooters and seconded by Law the matter be
referred to the Street and Alley Committee with authority to act. The
motion carried.
Bids on water pipe and fittings were considered and the Water
Committee recommended the purchase of Pacific States cast iron pipe and
fittings. It was moved by Thomson and seconded by Dr. Smith the bid
from the- Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company be accepted. Upon roll
call all aldermen present voted aye and the motion was declared passed.
After discussion it was moved by Conrad and seconded by Thomson
a letter of protest be written to the Montana Highway Coimmission about
the condition in which the underpass contractor left Railroad Street and
ask_ that it be put in shape. The motion carried.
After discussion it was moved by Conrad and seconded by Scoarse the
City Clerk prepar6 a petition for property owners on First Avenue for
replacing water mains as per Ordinance No. 326. The motion carried.
It was moved and seconded we do now adjourn. The motion carried.
