November 1, 1938
The City Council of tie City of La.urel,met in regular session
in the Council Chamber and was called to order by Mayor Conrad. at
7:30 o 1 c l oc P. M. November 1. 1938.
Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present:

TheIn .te � .off October 18th were read and approved.
mr. P. A. Johnston and a. representative of the Bi -Lateral Fire
Hose Company appeared before the Council with samples of fire hose.
Mr. C. A. Duncan appe a.red bef ore the Oounc it in regards to purchasing
f ire hose . after discussion it was moved by Thomson and seconded by
Graves the matter be referred to the Fire Committee with authority
to act . The motion carried..
. short reedss was declared and the Chairman of the Fire Committee
reported back that the committee recommended the urchase of 1.50 feet
of Fire hose from the Johnston Lumber Company at 943.94 per 50 foot
rolls, It was moved by Wooters and seconded by Thomson the report
of the committee be accepted.. The motion carried,
Mrs. R. P. Palmer, Mrs. S. S. Bliss, Mrs, Robert Burns, Mrs C. L.
Morris, Mr. P. A, Johnston, Mr. Carl wase and the City Engineer
appeared before the Courrit in regards to skating rinks and their
location, After discussion the Mayor referred the matter to the
Park Comnitteet
The report of the Police Officers for the month of October was presented
and. read* It was moved by Law and seconded. by Graves the report be
approved, The motion carried,
The report of the Police Judge for the month of October was presented
and read. It was moved by Law and seconded by Gomer the report be
approved* The motion carried,
The bills for the month of October were referred to the Finance
Oormittee and after due deliberation the committee reported back recommends*

It was moved by Law and seconded by Thomson the report of the Finance
Conmi.ttee be adopted and warrants issued In the manner reco=needed b
the Committee, The moti.oa carred,
bill to H. M. Crane .for $75.00, assigned to the 0. M. Wold Co.
being the balance due for hauling logs from Bridger Creek was presented
and read. It was moved by Dr* Smith and seconded. by Woot ers the bill
be paid, The motion carried,
An application for a permit by Mrs. W. V. Cosgriff to erect a frame
and painted garage on concrete* foundation on Lots 9 and los Block 24,
Laurel. Realty Second Subdivision,, was presented and read . It was moved
by Thomson and seconded by Scoarse the permit be granted, The motion
carried.*.
An application for a permit by Wo G . McKay to construct a frame
and painted house and garage on concrete fo datio on Lots 5 and 6.
Block 22, Laurel. Realty Second Subdivision, was presented and read,
1t was moved by Wooters and seconded. by Gomer the permit be granted.
The motion carried.,
An application for ' a permit by P. E. Jacobsonto build a porch
size 10 x12, on concrete foundation at 107 * 5th Street, was presented
and. read , It was moved by Gomer and seconded by Thomson the report be
approved. The motion carried,
The resignation of Mrs, o. M. Wold from the Library Board was prem
seated and .read.. It was moved by Dr Smith and seconded by Thomson the
resignation be accepted, The motion carried,,
The Mayor appointed Mrs, R. 0. Steele as a member of the Library
Board to fill the unexpired term of Mrs, 0. M. Wold., resigned. Tt was
moved by Thomson and seconded by Seoarse the appointment be approved...
The motion carried.
After discussion it was moved by Thomson and seconded by Graves

The City Engineer presented the matter of Dr. McCauley and E. L
Fenton wanting to change the grade of curb and sidewalk on Lots 15 & 16*.
Block 1. Laurel Realty Subdivisionon East First Street, It was moved
by Dr. Smith and seconded. by Gomer the matter be referred to the Street
and Alley Committee and City E ginger. The motion carried*
