October 18, 1938 Upon roll call the following aldermen answered -.-.,.pre sent Dr . Smith Geo, H. Smith Tho oo Graves Gomer Law The minutes of October4th and 14th were read and approved. Mr. John Allwin appeared before the Council in regards to a petition for a two inch water pipe serving First Avenue South between South :fourth Street. and South Fifth Street* After discussion it was i moved by Towson and seconded by Geo. Smith. that if sufficient signers were secured for the petition that the water pipe be installed, if not the eater committee make recommendat ions . The motion carried. Mr* Do I. Scoarse asked for a leave of absence. It was moved b -raves and seconded by Law the request be granted. Kuoera, The Yellowstone Bank and the Mont anao-l orcin Association o : Credit Men be notified that the proposition submitted in the letter was not acceptable to the Council* The motion earried. Mr. Thomson presented the matter of closing he streets and alleys between First Avenue South and Yellowstone avenue and between Fourth Street South and Fifth Street South as the county stated they would have a better opportunity for sale After discussion it was mored by Dr. Smith and seconded by Gomer the matter be referred to the Street and Alley conmittee and Citi` Attorney for a report at the next meeting. The motion carried, After discussion of repainting the street signs and fire hydrants, it was moved by Dr. Smith and seconded by Geo. Smith the fire hydrants be painted red.
