Street and Alley Committee and City Engineer.,
A committee from the L. L. Club headed by Mrs. B. L.. Price appeared
before the Council asking that the City Council. sponsor a project for
a swimming pooh. with NYA or WPA labor,
After discussion 3..t was moved.

RESOLUTION NO* 51
Resolution No. 516, being a. resolution requesting that the
a.pplicatiQn of the City of Laurel., Montana, to the United state
Government of American for a loan and grant in f'inancing'the c o s roc i-
tion of water mains and appurtenances therdto, ' P.W.Q.. Docket Montan.
1148-F, be changed from a loan 4nd grant to grant only..was presented
and read. It was moved by Lam' and seconded by Thomson the. Resolutio
Noy, 516 be passed and. adopted, Upon roll call all alden en present
voted aye and said resolution was declared passed and adopted*.
Mr. Wooters asked for a leave of absence. It was moved by Graves

and seconded by Gomer the request be granted,4_ The motion carried*
'The matter of installing a tele -phone buster downstairs in the City
Hall was pre se -ted. It was rnoved by Wooters and seconded by r. Smith:
the buzzer be instai.led.. The motion carried..
After some discussion regarding the lengthening of the contract
with the Nilsono-mzth Construction Co.. on east Fourth Street, it was
moved by Thomson and seconded b Geo. Smith`that if the Contractor
and the PWA Engineer were willing,., that a work order be issued to
continue the Fourth Street line to the intersection of the tee for
the two inch line on Idaho Ave, The motion carried
The resignation of E. M. Kuc ra from the position of Policeman
was presented and reads It vias ,moved by Law and seconded by Scoarse
the resignation be accepted. The motion carried,
Applications for the posit dor of Policeman, were received From
Charles B. Shearer, Charles Wood, Reny 11, Pewi t, Lou l' amen,
Joseph Nicholas, Thomas L. Biggs, G. R. Olmstead, Russell S. Hard.,
Chester D,. Herbert. It was moved by Graves and seconded by woofers
that ' the applications be referred to the Police Conrnittee and the
Mayor and a recess declared.. The motion carried.
Thereupon the Mia or declared a recess. The Chairman of the
Police Conynittee reported back recornmending that the applications
be submitted to the Council as a whole and a ballot taken, 1t was
moved. by Thomson and seconded by Geo* Smith the report of the conmiitte.e
be accepted. The motion carried,
Ballots were then cast and the result being a tie, f:or Nicholas
and Wood, the 111'a or rec ormended the appointment of Joseph Nicholas*
It was rrioved by Sooarse and seconded by Geo. Smith -the recom-endatio
of the Mlkayor be approved. The motion carried,
