August 30, 1938
The City Council of the City of Laurel raet in regular adjourned
session in the Council Chmnber and wa s called to order by Mayor Conrad.

Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present;

This being the t ime set for receiving bids for the cora truc t ion
of Water Maine and appurtenances thereto, more full.y described in
the Plans and Specifications of T. A. Rigney$ City Engineer, located
at Laurel, Montana, P. Wo A. Docket Iiiontan;a 1148,-F. The City Clerk
produced proof of publication in the Laurel outlook and was directed
to open and receive all bids. The following bids were received;

.After discussion it was moved by Dr. Smith_ and seconded by Geo # H. Smith
a recess be declared for consideration of the bids by the Councils The
raot ion carried,
The Mayor thereupon declared a recess*
The President of the Council reported back that due to a legal
technicality in the bid security submitted by Barry 0 =Leary, it was
r ecce=.end.ed. that the bid be rejected,
RESOLUTION NO. 513
Resolution No. 513, being a resolution rejecting the bid. of Barry
0 t Leary for the reason that it did not comply with the Notice to Con-
tractors for the reason that he submitted a Bid Bond for five per
$2,000,00, centum. (5 ) of the bid instead of for the su: of as provided
in said notice, was presented and read, It was moved by Dr. Smith and
seconded by Geo, N. Smith that Resolution Not 513 be passed and adopted.
Upon roll call all aldermen present voted aye and said resolution was
declared passed and adopted,
It was moved by Thomson and seconded by Wooters that the Nilson -
Smith (_50onstrue tion Company of Great Falls be awarded the contract
subject to the approval. of R R. A. Radford, Regional Director P oW.A.
Upon, roll call all aldermen present voted aye and the motion was
declared passed
It was moved by Scoarse and seconded by Geo.. Smith that the City
Clerk be directed to return the certified check and bid bonds submitted
by bidders upon the signing of the contract by the successful bidder.
The mot ion carried.
It was ,moved by Thomson and seconded b Vier oot ers the City Clerk
be directed to return checks to plan holders upon return of plans and
Spec if ic.at ions . The motion carried..
Dr. Smith reported for the Purchasing Committee in regards to the
furniture Mrs, Broughton wanted to sell to the City, stating that the-.;..
committee had not been able to find a need for it, but that she would
life to store the two pieces at the City Nall until she could dispose
of them. It was moved byiloot er s and seconded by Thomson the furniture
be stored at the City Nall until disposed of. The motion carried..

IVIr. Wooters asked for a leave of absence, It was moved. by Thomson
and seconded by Lam' the request be granted, The motion c arriecL
Jhe City Attorney asked for a leave of absence. It was moved by
Dr Smith and seconded by Gomer the request be *ranted The motion
carried.
Jar. Lave reported the need of a stove for the Police Dept The
tier was referred to the Purchasing o ittee
It was moved by Thomsonand seconded by Scoarse the necessary
arrangements be made for the P . W .A, resident Engineer.. The motion
carried,
