The City Council of the City of Laurel met in special sess3.on
in the Counc3.1 Chamber 3r~ the City Hall at 7:30 o+cloek P. M., Tuesday,
Nay 1.3, 1943. This being 'the tame far canvass3.ng 'the returns of the
Special Bond Election held in the City of Laurel on May 7, 1941, and
pursuant to the requirements of the Revised Codes of the State of
Montana, the City Council met as a canvass3.ng board for ~Ghe purpose of canvassing the returns of the Special Bond Election held in the City
of Laurel, Montana an May 7, 1941, Mayor Conrad presiding.
Upon ro11 call the foll.owi~a~ aldermen answered present:

The Mayor appointed as Tellers to report upon the returns of ~hE
Special Bond Election held May 7, 1941, Aldermen Nets Vprdahl,~ J. J.
Parke:; HenY~y E. Gower, Joe F. Jolley and Peter D. Tho1r~.~on.
The Tellers having opened and canvassed the said returns, reported
as follows:
Shall the 3~ debt limit be expended and the
City Council of the City of L~ztzY~el~ Montana,
be authorized to incur an indebtedness of said C3.tg in excess of the said 1im3.t by issuing
in the name of said City ids negot~.~.ble Genera].
Sewer Bonds, in the total. pr3.ncipal sum of
~25,~00.0~, sai~1 bonds tube payab3.e on the
amortization p1ar~ or to be serial bonds as pro-
v3ded by law, an,d to bear interest at a rake nod ~xceedir~g 4~ per annum, payable semi-
annually, said bo~ads to be issued to provide
funds to be used for the purpose of canst~uc~-
ing and establishing a main trunk 13ne public
sewer with ~aecessary manholes ar~d accessories,
extending from north of the Northern Pacif'3.c
Railway Company car shops ~o the Yellowstone ~ River a.nd to cons~ruc~ and ir~s~al1 a sewerage
disposal and treating p1.ar~~ w3.th the necessarg
accessories to be located at the sewer outlet

Alderman Jae F. Jolley presented the following motion:
rrW~iEREAS, the returns from the various precincts of the various
wards of the City of Laurel, Montana, for the Special Bond Election
of qualified electors wha are taxpayers upon property within said city, and whose names appear upon the Last preceding completed assess-
mer~~ roll for state and County faxes as taxpayers within said City,
which sa3.d Special Bond Election was held on the '7th day of May, 1941,
hive been delivered to the City Cou~ac3.l; and
WHEREAS, said returns have bee~a duly canvassed; and
WHEREAS, said returns show the f oll.ow3.ng propos~it ior~, t o-wig

votes for the answer "FOR" and 26 votes for the answer "AG,~INST"; ar~d
VUHER~:AS, it appears ghat there were 665 registered electors, ~vho
are taxpayers upon property within said city, and whose names appear upon the last preceding completed assessment roll for state and county
taxes as taxpayers within said city, and who were qualified and
entitled to vote at said Special Bond Election ar~d ors the two prop-
ositions, and that more than forty per centum (40~) of the electors

in favor of the t~vo propositions and in favor of issuing bonds as
provided in said propositions.
NOW, THERF~'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA:
Section 1. That said propositions, to-wit ;
"SHALL the 3~ debt limit be extended and the City
Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, be authorized 'Go incur an indebtedness of said City in excess of the
said limit by issuing in the name of laid City its
negotiable General Sewer Bonds,_ in the total principal
stun of X25,000.00, said bonds tobe payable on the
amortization plan or to be serial bonds as provided by
law, and ~o bear interest at a rate not exceedir~~ 4~
per ar~rlum, payable semi~anrauall~r, said bonds ~o be issued to provide funds to be used for the purpose of
constructing and establishing a maim trunk line public
sewer with necessary manholes and accessories, exvend-
ing from north of the Northern Pacific Railway Company
car shops to the Yellowstone River ar~d to construct and
install a sewerage disposal and treading plant with the necessary accessories to be located at the sewer outlet
ors the north bark of the Yellowstone R3.ver, and may the
City Council Levy a direct annual ad valorem fax upo~1

The motion having been seconded by Alderman Feuerbacher and roll
call ordered, the follov~ing aldermen voted "ayes' : Joe F'. Jol3.ey,
Peer D. Thomson, Fred Feuerbacher, Henry E. Gower, J. J. Parker ar~d Nell Vorda.hl. "N0~' none. The motion carried.
It was moved by Thomson arad seconded by Gower that we do nor
adjourn. The motion carried. I
