I~ was moved bar Parker ar~d seconded by McManus the eol~.a~e~a.l be
approved. The motian carried.
A reco~mnendation from the S~ree~t Co~nittee visas presented and
read ire which they reeo~nxnended that Henry Schmidt, Jr t ~ salary as
patrol operator ar~d all other v~ork be increased to '7~¢~ per hour, that
Sam Ehrl3.c~' s saZar~r for truck driver oar garbage truck and all other work be increased to 60¢~ per hour and also ~ha~ other city employee ? s
salaries be considered for increases. After di~cussiox~ i~ v as moved
by Tho2naor~ ar~d seconded. by Parker that the reca~¢nendations of the
Street Committee be accepted and take effect July 1, 1942. The
motion carried.
It was moved by Thomson and seconded bar Wilson that the salary
of Joseph N3.chol~.s as ~_As~is~ar~t Pumper be increased to X140.00 per
month effec~3ve July 1, x.942. The mo~ior~ carried.
It was-moved by ~~)ilson and seconded by Parker that the City
2'reasureri s and City Clerkt ~ ~alarie~ be increased to y~~.40,~0 per month and that the two policemen's salaries be izaereased to X130,4
per month, effective July 1, 1942. The motion carried.
Mr. Chester Scott and Mr. B, l~2eyer Karris appeared before the
Council regarding the eo~.l.ect3.on of garbage. ,after much discussion
the mater way referred t o the Street Gomrnittee for recomrnendatior~ at the next meeting.

in wgi3.ch they callod attention to two green ash trees on the
boulevard at 4th S~ree~ ~~-~t ar~d Per~r~sylvania ,venue that wEre burned
when the weeds were burned on lots and bcaulevards. The letter was
placed on file,

Recreation, SPA, was presented and read, 3.n which he outl3r~ed the
functioning of the Defense Recreation Project, which ea11~ for the
l appointment off' a Recreation Board of ~3.ve ~.~ambe~s.. It vuas moved
4 by Parker and. seconded by Fuller the. Mayor be authorized to appo3.r~t the cflmrrii~tee for this pro~ec~. The motion carried.
Mr. J. I~ . Fe11.o~~, Civilian Defense Commander, appeared before
the Council asking that the fire truck be perm3.~ted to ~o outside of
the city limits 3n case of an emergency, ~ and that the Civi~.ian~ defense _ _ _ , - - -

Action was deferred un~i7, the next meeting.
A letter from the ~1ar Production Board was presented and read in which they requested more detailed information co~eernir~g the items
necessary ~o complete the Sewage Dispo~aJ. Plant for which a higher
preference ra~ir~g is needed.
lt2r. Storms, City engineer, in. reporting on the letter .stated
that he had 1is ted, in the orig3.r~al request , the weight ~ and c os~ s off' the various hypes of met~.l required to fir~3.~h the plat . Alpo
ghat he hid mentio~ted the critical ma~Ger~.a~..~ which could. and vuou~.d
be substitu~e~d for by using plywood o~ other temp~~ary material.
The City Engineer also reported that Mr. Wold way cantaeted and.
agreed to cooperate in every respect ire ~emov3.r~g the fire hazard at
the Impl.emer~t building ors West Main street. end that Mr. G. .A . Cook agreed to the city installing a sewer vent w3.th the idea that he wou~.d
replace has own stove ven'~ a~ l03 W. 5th Stree~G
The budged was presented ~o the counei7. ar~d tabula~i~ri was
read to the eour~eil a.~ a whole. It was decided to add X500 to the
PJ~i~eell.aneous budget for Civilian Defense. It was moved b~ Parker and seconded bar ~'h.omson the prelimir~a~y budget be approved. The
