M. June 2, 1942. Upon roll call the following aldermen answered present: McManus Fu11er Z~ilso~ Thomson Feuerbacher Gom~r Parker Vordahl The m3nu~;es of May l9th ~er~ read ar~d approved. The report of the Health Officer for the month of May vnas pre- sented and read. It was moved by Parker and seconded by FulJ.er the repot be approved. The motion carried. The r~:port of the Chief of Police for the month of May was p.re- ~ented ar~d read. Tt was moved by Thomson and seconded b~ Feuerbacher the report be approved. The motion carried. The repar~ of the Police Judge for the month of May was presented and read. It eras moved b~ McManus arad seconded by Fuller the report be approved. The motion carried. ~'he report of the City Treasurer for ~t~ie month of May wss pre- ser~ted and read. It was moved by Vordahl. and s~;conded by Feuerbacher the report be approved. The motion carried. The report of the Cit3~ Clerk for the month of stay was present~:d and read. It was moved by Vordahl. and secand~d by Parker the report be approved. The motion carr~eC7.. The motion carried. An applicat3.on for a permit by xerma~ ach~~sler to construct a garage building of concrete blocks on Lots 18 and 19, B1.ock 2, Laurel Realty Sub. was presented a~ad read. ~;r. ~chessler appeared before the Council in regards ~a the permit. It wasmoved bar Parker. ar~d seca~,ded b~ 1~eNiar~us the permit be granted. The mot3.on carried. An applicatio~a by Philip E. Noel for membership in the Laurel Vo1.u~teer Fire Dept. was presented end read. Thereupon the Mayor appointed Philip E. Noel. a mernbe~ of the Fire Dept. It vuas moved by Parker and seconded by Vordahl the appointm~raf~ be approved. The motion carr3.ed. Bi11s 'Go ~dalter Reichenberg ar~d J. A. Messer for refund of 1942 poll tax for reason of nod bung 21 years old vuere presented. It was moved by Vordahl arad seconded by Nic~tanus the bills be allowed upon proof of age . The mot ~.on Carried. b3.~.1 was presented by the Laurel Voluia~eer F3.re Department Relief ~ssocia~ion for ~44~.34 for money received for the disability fund. Tt vase moved by Gomer and seconded by Parker the matter be referred to the Park Comrr~ittee with authority to pct. The motion carried. A Letter from the Federal Power Comm.is~ion, Washington, D. C . was presented ar~d read. It vase moved by Gomer and seconded by McManus the letter be placed ors fi1.e. The motion carried. The City Attorney asked for a leave of absence from the Mate. A recommendation from the Park Committee ~vae presented ar~d rEad in which ~Ghey recommended that the water pipe lane across the bridge to Riverside Park and the line in the Park b~ repaired. They also. recommended that the land north of the road entering Riverside Park be leased to some individual and the proceeds used to maintain ar~d improve the balance of the park. after discussion it was moved 'kry Vordahl and ~eeconded by Parker the recornmer~datio~t be tabled unt3.~ the begix~r~ing of the fiscal year. Upon roll call aZl aldermen preset voted no except Parker and Vordahl who voted yes, and the motion eras declared Zo~t. Upon roll call alb. aldermen present voted aye except Vordahl who did not vote. Thy matior~ was deelared passed. A let-~er from G. Mc~ay was presented ar~d read in which he asked permission for the Nazerene Church to use straw on the grounds in Riverside Park during their mee~ir~~, ~o erect terr~porary toilet faeiliti.es, tune the p3.ano for its use, use the building occupied by the Boy Scou~tts paper project, etc. After discussion it vas rr~aved by Parker ~.r~d seconded bar Gower the requests be granted as outl3.ned ire -the 1e~ter as yearly as possible.
